New Jersey Monitor reports A state lawmaker who visited Colorado and saw how the first state to sell legal recreational cannabis deals with motorists driving under the influence wants to create a ma*****na enforcement division under the state Attorney General’s Office. MJ Biz reports Rhode Island is now allowing some advertisements by retail licensees who sell both medical and recreational ma*****na. The legislation signed Monday by Gov. Dan McKee allows advertising only by the hybrid retail license type, according to guidance published by Rhode Island’s Office of Cannabis Regulation (OCR). The new law does not permit advertisements by “licensed cultivators, laboratories, or non-hybrid medical ma*****na compassion centers, which will remain subject to the advertising restrictions present in the Medical Ma*****na Program rules and regulations.”...

The Canberra Times reports Victoria police officers violated human rights through excessive force and unlawful arrests at a pro cannabis rally, lawyers claim in an open letter to the state’s chief commissioner. Melbourne’s Fitzroy legal service alleges attendees were humiliated after being inappropriately searched, illegally handcuffed and mocked at a demonstration for the legalisation of ma*****na on April 20. Ganjaprenur reports Wisconsin’s Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled 4-3 that the odor of cannabis is enough to justify police searches of vehicles, even though substances legal in the state can smell like illegal cannabis, the Associated Press reports. The decision overturns lower court rulings that said police officers could not be sure what they smelled was not a CBD product and, therefore, could not use the odor of cannabis as a reason to search a vehicle....

Jared Polis and several of his advisers, saying that a 2020 bidding process to oversee the Colorado H**p Advancement and Management Plan was rigged.
