Hi! Today, I’m whipping up some grinder sandwiches! There are 3 different ways to sign sandwich. Let’s go!!!
Layer the bottom half of the Italian bread with provolone cheese, salami, capocollo, ham, turkey, and pepperoni.
Preheat your oven to 375°F
Place the sandwich halves on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
While the sandwich toasts, prepare the salad topping.
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper to make the dressing. Toss the dressing with the salad mixture.
Remove the sandwich from the oven, then top the meats with the dressed salad mixture, followed by lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and mild banana peppers.
Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread and serve immediately. Enjoy!

In a large bowl, combine the cooked shrimp, sliced cucumber, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Toss everything together until the shrimp and cucumber are evenly coated with the dressing. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately or chill for later.

Here’s how we sign Derrick Rose’s name in ASL!
VD: Derrick Rose is wearing a white t-shirt and a green apron, smiles and signs his name in ASL while looking directly at the camera. He has a beard, glasses, and a tattoo on his arm, with a microphone attached to his apron. The text “MY SIGN DERRICK ROSE” appears at the bottom. QB then grabs the phone, signs “That’s Derrick Rose! His sign name!” while wearing a blue and white jacket, with her blonde hair styled in tight curls.
Chop the baby potatoes and melt some butter in a pan. When the butter melts, add the potatoes and cook until tender. While the potatoes are cooking, chop the green pepper, jalapeño, and chicken sausage. Once the potatoes are tender, add the green pepper and jalapeño, then season with garlic powder. In a separate pan, scramble the eggs, and just before they’re done, add the cheese to melt. Finally, toss the chopped chicken sausage into the pan with the potatoes and vegetables, mix everything together, and serve!

Communication access is a right, not a choice. As a Deaf individual, my interpreter made sure that I am included in every conversation whether or not it’s about me. I believe it’s important for people to understand that interpreters are there to translate everything, without exceptions. Don’t ask them to leave out parts of the conversation every word matters.
VD: QB with blue hair and long white nails. She is wearing a white shirt with a gold butterfly necklace and a gold ring on her finger. She has a nose piercing and a tattoo on her arm.
The text overlay on the video reads “As a Deaf person, the interpreter is my ‘ear.’” As a Deaf person, the interpreter is my ‘ear.’ They translate everything that’s said in the room, so I’m fully included in every conversation. Don’t tell the interpreter to not interpret what was said they will always interpret, no matter what.

Teaching ASL and using it in daily life can be quite different in terms of structure and expression:
Teaching ASL:
Formal Structure: Teaching often focuses on clear grammar, proper sentence structure, and vocabulary. The goal is to give students a foundational understanding, with attention to accuracy.
Concept Clarification: When teaching, you may break down signs into components to explain handshape, movement, location, and palm orientation.
Slower Pace: Instructors tend to sign slower and more deliberately so that learners can follow along and understand the language.
Textbook Signs: Instructors might teach the standardized or widely accepted signs that follow curriculum guidelines, even though there may be regional or cultural variations.
Daily Use of ASL:
Natural Flow: In daily communication, ASL is more fluid and informal, with regional or community-based variations.
Cultural Influences: People often incorporate slang, shortcuts, or more expressive facial and body movements. Signs may also vary based on a person’s background or personal experience (like my style).
Speed and Efficiency: Daily conversations may be faster, and less emphasis is placed on perfect grammar. Context and familiarity help fill in gaps.
Personalization: In daily life, people adapt signs for convenience or based on their community’s habits, much like how you learned to move the “wine” glass sign differently.
VD: QB with long pink and black braids. She is wearing a light pink tank top and has a nose ring. The video is captioned “TEACHING ASL VS” and “DAILY USE OF ASL.” A comment bubble above her head reads “I’ve seen you sign differently. Is that ASL?”. The background is a solid pink. She explains the difference between signing in American Sign Language (ASL) and other styles of sign language. She signs school, eggs, living room, and cooking, and the food is so good.
