It’s been a minute! We have moved from our home state of Tennessee to Alabama! Yes, Alabama. No, there is no Roll Tide in this house. But we found a community in our travels that we said this could be home and today it is officially official! New drivers license and vehicle registration, oh and the beach parking passes. If you’re in the area let us know. We will be traveling again but not until 2025. (Moving is expensive!)

It has been a while! Long days of moving and unpacking. The first concert as Orange Beach residents and it couldn’t be a more perfect band for us! Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers put on an amazing tribute for Jimmy. All the feels! Parrot head 🦜 vibes were strong.

Soaking up our last days in Tennessee before we move to Orange Beach Alabama. We have been quiet and that is because our RV adventures led us to a new community at the beach! We were there for April and decided we could take the leap to move from our home town of 23 years. 2 weeks from tonight we will pack the final pieces of our life (that haven’t been donated or sold) and head to the beach. We will be back on the road for NFL in Sept!

has it ALL! Beautiful sites, pools, playgrounds, and a restaurant! Also, there are three entrances to bike the Gulf State Park Trails and you may see baby gators! Equal distance to Orange Beach or Gulf Shores restaurants with some smaller ones close by. It is across the street from the Wharf so plenty of family or adult options! We saw Kenny Chesney there last year and it was fantastic. We just spent two weeks there finalizing a big change (more to come) in our lives and we loved the location!!!! Go see for yourself!

was INCREDIBLE last night!!!! Totally worth the drive from Orange Beach to see the guys having so much fun and playing all their hits! I don’t think I’ve sang that much in a long!

Remember - life is short….go see the concert!

You buckle up, You have your kids buckled up. We do the same for our boys thanks to COOYOO seatbelts. Unrestrained pets in a vehicle are a distraction but they also become a projectile if you were in an accident. Always use with a harness to protect their necks. Protect everyone you love!

We love true ! It doesn’t get any more authentic than from the man who invented the culture, . This spot is working with his daughter to revive his brand. All the classic drinks are on the menu including: The Zombie 🧟‍♂️, Navy Grog, and Three Dots & a Dash to name a few. The food was incredible as well. Highly recommend the South Pacific shrimp fried rice 🤌🏼. Our visit was during the day and cannot wait to come back in the evening for the true tiki atmosphere. Stop in for refreshment!

🍄‍🟫 Have you ever seen a mushroom grow house? If not, a trip to in , GA is a must! So fascinating to see them growing. Shiitakes grow in a warm environment while oyster mushrooms have a colder environment that they grow in. On property is there farmhouse store where you can purchase the delicious mushrooms. Amy has an great way to sauté these fungi:

🍄 In a sauté pan, heat equal parts butter & olive oil
🍄 Add single layer of mushrooms. Do not disturb until browned.
🍄 Stir and continue to cook until all are golden brown.
🍄 Lightly drizzle all mushrooms with soy sauce.
🍄 Quick stir and serve! 🤌🏼

is the perfect beach destination on the Gulf Coast! Located between Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, this park provides a quick trip to many beaches plus tons of restaurants. Don’t want to go out? The pool is refreshing in the summer and heated in the winter.

The sites are spacious with shrubbery in between so you have privacy. This was our second stay here and this month flew by! So sad to be leaving but I know we’ll be back!!!

We will be in Milwaukee for Kenny Chesney 6/20-25 with the concert on 6/22. We just learned of Summerfeat and I (Amy) want to stay in the area to see Maroon 5 the last weekend of this festival. What are some areas to check out but not travel more than a few hours a on we can come back to Milwaukee 7/4-6?

Happy morning! Great time for with a twist. Taking some time at home we but can’t wait to get back on the adventure trail. These Cornmeal Pancakes remind us the first time we had them at . So good! Give them a try with this recipe from “Cooking with Jilly.” Bon appétit!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour (Rice flour to make gluten-free)
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1 tbsp sugar
3/4 tsp baking powder
1 & 3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 & 1/4 cups buttermilk
2 large eggs
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted & cooled
3-6 slices cooked bacon chopped
1 small can chopped roasted green chiles
Shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, & salt in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl whisk buttermilk, eggs, & butter.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
Heat griddle to 375 degrees. Lightly grease with butter.
Pour about 1/3 cup of batter into griddle.
Right away top with the bacon, cheese & chiles (see picture).
When the bottom is golden brown then flip. Cook until cheese is melted & brown.
Serve with maple syrup - trust me!

Even the cloudy and windy nights are beautiful! We’re quickly saying goodbye for now to Marathon as we head North on Thursday. We’ve enjoyed our two months in the Keys but it’s time to head home for a cruise. Stopping to see friends (weather permitting) we haven’t seen since June. Figure out when we can get our trailer winterized for our cruise which may extend our trip home. 2024 is etched in pencil and some in stone. We’ll be back to the Keys by 10/1 staying for two months. We can’t wait to get back!!!! Cheers to our friend new and old on the road in 2024! Safe travels!

Start of the second week of 2024 and time to get my butt in gear. Have not ran since the Hog Trot in November. But my biggest motivation is the march to the big 5️⃣-0️⃣ in August! Took advantage of this weather to get back on track. Along the (US-1) is the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail. This is a linear park from Key Largo to Key West. Some portions are on US-1 and some are fun secluded trails like these pics with mangroves & lagoons. I hope you have or find your motivation to kick this year off! ✌🏼
