⚠️** SCAM ALERT **⚠️

Over the past week the Cleveland Police Department has received multiple reports from businesses about a potential scam. Businesses are receiving phone calls, from what appears to be a local number, claiming to be an employee with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and that the caller is investigating counterfeit bills. The caller then requests employees to get money from the safe and the register for it to be “picked up” or taken to a CVS. Thankfully many of our businesses have recognized this as a scam and hung up.

Some red flags that a call may be a scam:
🚩They are pushy and rush you to act quickly
🚩They request a gift card as payment
🚩It just feels like a scam

If you are ever concerned, hang up and call the company they claimed to be directly. Look up the number yourself and call the main number. Never give out information before verifying you are talking to a legitimate representative of a company. If you or your business has fallen victim to a scam, report it immediately to local police. Officers will never call to request payments over the phone, in person, or by gift card.

Some very light snow falling on Signal Mountain this morning. So far no accumulations or impact on travel.

North Bound Signal Mountain Blvd was blocked by large Boulder and small landslide at 1:30 this. Morning. Officers notified SM Public Works and they responded to the scene with a backhoe and had the road cleared within about 45 minutes. Thanks to our Signal Mountain Public Works folks who were quick to respond and got the job done quickly in less than desirable circumstances.
