“A l***r came to him begging him, and kneeling he said to him, “If you choose, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, “I do choose. Be made clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. After sternly warning him he sent him away at once, saying to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” But he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the word, so that Jesus could no longer go into a town openly, but stayed out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter.”

FANTASTIC conference this weekend... so thankful for yesterday's snow day so I could participate even more fully. Amazing session this morning from Dr Donna Chu in Hong Kong on "Media Nutrition." This is going to have a big impact on my lessons with middle schoolers this year! How amazing to be sitting in our house in North Carolina and learning with such an amazing and talented cohort of media educators around the world.

I am so thankful to be a learner and teacher today, right now, in 2025.

I’ve started a Google Doc of interactive notes for the MediaEd 2025 Forum / conference: http://wfryer.me/mediaed2025

“Once, when he was in one of the cities, there was a man covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you choose, you can make me clean.” Then Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I do choose. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him. And he ordered him to tell no one. “Go,” he said, “and show yourself to the priest, and, as Moses commanded, make an offering for your cleansing, for a testimony to them.” But now more than ever the word about Jesus spread abroad; many crowds would gather to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. But he would withdraw to deserted places and pray.”

“Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali, on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.” From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all the sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he cured them. And great crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.”

In our adult “ACE” Sunday School class we are continuing to study the book of Acts in January 2025, this week focusing on Acts 11. In Acts 11 God uses miraculous visions to open the eyes of His children to His truth and Good News. God also challenged the mentality of TTWWADI: “That’s The Way We’ve Always Done It.”

One of the supplementary books we are consulting during our study is “ACTS: The Gospel of the Spirit” by Justo L. Gonzalez:

Next week I will facilitate our study of Acts 12.
