Formerly known as Second Motion Records, the label changed it's name so it could be more closely tied to the legendary retail store which has the same owner, Stephen Judge. The label has released albums by such artists as: Tommy Keene, Bettie Serveert, The Parson Red Heads, Marty Willson-Piper, Swervedriver and many others. Schoolkids Records (retail) was founded in 1974 and is one of the longest

running mom & pop record stores in the United States. In Jan 2017 the label announced their name change and will be announcing 4 or 5 new releases throughout the year. On Jan 24th, 2017 Schoolkids Records announced the signing of Chapel Hill, NC's Happy Abandon. Record due in August 2017, stay tuned for details and more release announcements coming soon!
