CTA Bus 1183 – New Flyer D40LF on Route 97 Skokie 🚌

Spotted in Skokie: CTA #1183, a 2006–07 New Flyer D40LF on Route 97 Skokie to Old Orchard. Powered by a Cummins ISM6 engine and ZF 6HP592C transmission, this bus is part of the 1000-series, one of CTA’s oldest fleets still running.

These D40LFs were once the backbone of Chicago’s bus system, but with newer Nova LFS buses arriving, their days are numbered. A real treat for bus fans and Chicago transit history enthusiasts!

Date: March 2024.

🚇✨ JKJ Transit is Back! ✨🚍

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I’m excited to say that JKJ Transit is officially making a return. After stepping away for a bit, I’ve realized just how much I’ve missed capturing, sharing, and talking about the transit systems that keep Chicagoland moving.

For those who are new here: JKJ Transit is all about photography, observations, and storytelling centered on our region’s buses and trains. While a lot of attention often goes to the big systems like CTA and Metra, my focus has always been on shining a light on the smaller agencies and lesser-known corners of Chicagoland transit—the ones that don’t always get the recognition they deserve but are still absolutely vital to the people they serve.

In the coming weeks, you can expect:
