Here’s a fun and delicious recipe for Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Cheesy Breadsticks! These cheesy, savory breadsticks are filled with a Philly cheesesteak-inspired mixture, perfect for a snack, appetizer, or main dish.
Ingredients:
For the Stuffed Breadsticks:
1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 lb beef steak (ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced)
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional, for extra flavor)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 cup provolone cheese, shredded (or mozzarella if preferred)
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)
For the Dipping Sauce (optional):
1/2 cup marinara sauce or pizza sauce
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cheesesteak Filling:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers (if using). Cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
Add the sliced beef steak to the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is cooked through. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Remove from heat and set the mixture aside to cool slightly.
2. Prepare the Breadstick Dough:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 12x10 inches. You want it large enough to roll up the filling inside.
3. Assemble the Stuffed Breadsticks:
In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard (if using). Mix until smooth.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the surface of the pizza dough, leaving about 1 inch along the edges for sealing.
Evenly spread the cooked Philly cheesesteak mixture on top of the cream cheese layer.
Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture.
4. Roll and Cut the Breadsticks:
Carefully roll up the dough into a tight log, starting from the long side. Pinch the seams to seal the dough.
Cut the rolled dough into 8-10 equal-sized pieces (depending on how thick you want the breadsticks).
5. Bake the Breadsticks:
Place the stuffed breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, leaving space between each.
Brush the tops of the breadsticks with melted butter for a golden, crispy finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
6. Make the Dipping Sauce (Optional):
While the breadsticks bake, prepare the dipping sauce by combining marinara sauce, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Heat in the microwave for 30-45 seconds until warm.
7. Serve:
Once the breadsticks are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Cheesy Breadsticks with the dipping sauce on the side, and enjoy!
Tips:
Meat Choice: You can use ribeye, sirloin, or even ground beef for a different texture. For an authentic Philly cheesesteak feel, thinly slice the steak against the grain.
Veggie Variations: You can add mushrooms or swap the bell peppers for different colors for variety.
Freezing Option: These breadsticks freeze well. After baking, let them cool, then store them in an airtight container or freeze in individual portions. Reheat in the oven for a quick snack.
These Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Cheesy Breadsticks are cheesy, flavorful, and packed with the classic Philly cheesesteak filling. They make a great snack, appetizer, or meal for any occasion!
