Last night was another night at the ballpark to watch our son and his team play baseball. It was overshadowed by what happened afterwards between a couple of coaches and the umpire. Because it’s not about the kids and a game right?

But, yes by all means, let’s talk more about how Taylor Swift is a bad example for our kids.

Coaching youth sports can’t only be about how many games you win and lose. That needs to be the icing on the cake because we taught them how.

If has to be about teaching them the game, helping to develop their strengths and abilities, and making an impact on their lives while we have the opportunity.

There will always be a “next level” of the game. How did we help them get there and be better than they were?

Some people take youth sports WAY too seriously. Sit there, cheer your kids on, then take them for ice cream after the game, win, lose or draw.

They aren’t professional athletes, they’re still learning the game. Don’t be the one who takes their passion or joy away from it.

I love the quote, “don’t accept feedback from people you’d never ask for advice.”

Plenty of people give feedback, especially with the use of social media where people can say what they want without fear of accountability.

We aren’t obligated to accept the feedback from anyone who wants to give it. Some give it to break us down while others understand what they’re giving can be seen as productive.

Know what to accept and from whom to accept it. Not everyone should be given that proverbial “2 square feet of real estate.”

Heading into Monday morning grateful. It’s a busy season with four sports (baseball, soccer, basketball and softball) but I’m grateful they have found things they’re passionate about and that my wife and I can be their biggest fans.

Whatever you’re heading into whether it’s a well needed, and probably overdue, vacation I hope you go into it grateful for the opportunity.

If it’s another week getting after it in the office, I hope it’s a week you’re looking forward to but even if not find the gratitude of being able to give our best and get off on the right foot.

Whatever you’re doing today, start the day with a positive attitude. That might be easier said than done but watch what your day becomes when you start it with gratitude, with faith, and with the belief that this day is going to be great.

I believe tomorrow will be our best day in a long time.
