Bartow County deputies arrested two individuals after responding to reports of gunfire at a residence on Whistle Stop Drive near Cartersville at approximately 1:34 AM on Wednesday.

Upon their arrival, 19-year-old Jack Walker Webb informed the deputies that he had received a warning indicating that someone was threatening to shoot up the party at his house. He reported that a group of unknown individuals arrived in a white pickup truck. Following the threat, Webb said he retrieved his fi****ms for protection.

He reportedly approached the individuals in the truck, racked a round in his handgun, and attempted several times to persuade them to leave. According to Webb, the vehicle initially pulled away but then turned around and slowly rolled back toward his residence. He said he took a defensive position behind a tree in his yard, firearm in hand.

*This post discusses the severe weather potential from tonight until 7 AM Sunday*

Saturday morning update ⚠️ The potential for strong to severe storms tonight into early tomorrow (Sunday) morning is increasing. What changed? The system driving the severe weather threat is very strong, and an influx of strong winds aloft and warm, moist air will somewhat erode the pesky wedge of cold, stable air currently in place across north Georgia.

A 62-year-old man is currently in the Bartow County Jail after allegedly committing a violent attack and leading law enforcement on a chase in the Acworth area on Monday night.

The victim reported that he stepped outside a residence on Lynn Circle near Acworth and briefly sat on the porch when he suddenly felt a hand wrap around his throat with great force. He recognized the attacker as Bruce Edwin Smith, a former co-worker who supposedly blamed him for his previous incarceration and intended to kill him. The victim claimed that Smith punched him, knocked him to the ground, mounted him, and continued to hit him in the face and head while choking him.

To defend himself, the victim found a pair of bolt cutters. However, Smith reportedly took the cutters away and continued the assault. After some time, Smith allegedly stopped, went into the house, grabbed a beer from the refrigerator, and sat on the porch, drinking it while the victim lay on the ground. Smith then left the scene.
