I sent this letter to all members of Canton City Council and Mayor Sherer. I urge you to draft your own letter and submit it to them. We need to stand united.

Dear Members of the Canton Ohio City Council and Mayor Sherer,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing violence in Gaza and to urge both the Canton Ohio City Council and Mayor Sherer to take immediate action to call for a long-term humanitarian ceasefire in the region.

The recent escalation of hostilities in Gaza has resulted in a devastating loss of life and widespread destruction. Innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, are suffering unimaginable hardships as a result of this senseless violence. Homes, schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructure have been destroyed, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.

As members of the global community, we cannot remain silent in the face of such tragedy. It is imperative that we come together to demand an end to the violence and to work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict. A long-term humanitarian ceasefire is essential to prevent further loss of life and to allow for the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to those in need.

Therefore, I urge both the Canton Ohio City Council and Mayor Sherer to take the following actions:

1. Pass a resolution calling for a long-term humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
2. Advocate for the protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
3. Engage in diplomatic efforts to address the underlying causes of the conflict and to work towards a just and lasting peace.

Canton, Ohio - May 5, 2024 - In the wake of the tragic death of Frank Tyson in police custody on April 18th, outraged community members gathered outside the AMVETS post to protest against police violence. Frank Tyson's final words, "I can't breathe," echo in our hearts as a painful reminder of the urgent need for change.

Despite his desperate pleas for help, Frank Tyson was callously disregarded by the very individuals sworn to protect and serve. The indifference shown by the police, exemplified by their response of "you're fine, shut the f**k up," is emblematic of a systemic issue that must be addressed.

Family members, joined by concerned community members, stood together in solidarity to demand justice for Frank Tyson and accountability for those responsible for his death. Their presence symbolizes the collective resolve to confront and dismantle the structures of oppression that perpetuate police violence.

This protest serves as a rallying cry for change, not just in Canton, but across the nation. We cannot remain silent in the face of such injustice. We call upon local authorities to thoroughly investigate Frank Tyson's death and hold all involved parties accountable.
