Happy ! In honor of this special day, our Good Things Come In Threes podcast is taking you back to a conversation that we had last year with self-proclaimed “Star Wars Nerd,” Jeff Ream. John, Jack, and Jeff sat down to discuss some of the life lessons that we, as Christians, can take away from Star Wars! Sit back, grab a glass of blue milk, and get ready for an episode that is out of this galaxy! Oh, and May the Fourth be with you!

Let us pray. Merciful God, your Son was lifted up on the cross to draw all people to himself. Grant that we who have been born out of his wounded side may at all times find mercy in him, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen (Sundays and Seasons, pg 151)

This evening our Lenten observance comes to an end, and we gather with Christians around the world to celebrate the Three Days of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Tonight we remember Christ’s last meal with his disciples and his commandment that we live out the promise embodied in this meal. As Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, so we are called to give and receive love in humble service to one another.

As of this week, Trinity members have donated over $4,000 to the Lutheran World Relief effort in eastern Europe. Your donations have helped LWR provide emergency cash support to Ukrainian refugees in southwestern Poland, move essential supplies (including medical) into Ukraine, and support partner churches in Poland who are welcoming in refugees. Thank you to all who have shared their love in this way. If you would like to continue to support these efforts, please make a donation in the church office or via our website. You may also donate to LWR directly. Your contributions are making a difference.

Psychology Today defines forgiveness as the release of resentment or anger. It does not mean reconciliation, nor does it mean that you have to return to the same relationship or accept the same harmful behaviors from an offender. Forgiveness, they say, is vitally important for mental health. It propels people forward rather than keeping them emotionally engaged in an injustice. Forgiveness has been shown to elevate mood, enhance optimism, and guard against anger, stress, anxiety, and depression.

Not only are we called to forgive as we are forgiven, but the act of forgiveness can have a profound effect on our own well-being. How might your life be changed by the power of forgiveness?

If you haven’t listened to Stephanie Maurer share her personal story of forgiveness, listen now! If you have heard it, share it with someone else who may need to listen. This story could be life changing.

In a 1967 Christmas sermon, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke these words "If we are to have peace on earth, our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Our loyalties must transcend our race, our tribe, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a world perspective.” Dr. King called us to actively love and care for all of our neighbors. How are you honoring his life and legacy today?
