Grant that we who have been born out of his wounded side may at all times find mercy in him, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. This evening our Lenten observance comes to an end, and we gather with Christians around the world to celebrate the Three Days of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Tonight we remember Christ’s last meal with his disciples and his commandment that we live out the promise embodied in this meal. As Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, so we are called to give and receive love in humble service to one another.

As of this week, Trinity members have donated over $4,000 to the Lutheran World Relief effort in eastern Europe. Your donations have helped LWR provide emergency cash support to Ukrainian refugees in southwestern Poland, move essential supplies (including medical) into Ukraine, and support partner churches in Poland who are welcoming in refugees. Psychology Today defines forgiveness as the release of resentment or anger. It does not mean reconciliation, nor does it mean that you have to return to the same relationship or accept the same harmful behaviors from an offender. Forgiveness, they say, is vitally important for mental health. It propels people forward rather than keeping them emotionally engaged in an injustice. Forgiveness has been shown to elevate mood, enhance optimism, and guard against anger, stress, anxiety, and depression.
Not only are we called to forgive as we are forgiven, but the act of forgiveness can have a profound effect on our own well-being. How might your life be changed by the power of forgiveness?

‘Tis the season to be jolly, but what if you aren’t feeling that way this year? We know that this can be a very hard time for some people. Some folks are grieving, or ill, or hurt, or lost. If you are feeling down this holiday season, we invite you to join us today at our Blue Christmas worship service. This brief service will include readings, prayer, and song in a peaceful space to optimize meditation and reflective remembrance. All are welcome!
