The district recently announced proposed policy changes to IIAC-R1. It does not include language that would prohibit the district from adding books which violate 573.550. It only allows them to remove books which break the law. This is a problem becuse merely making the books available is a violation of law. Policy should prohibit such books from being added to esnure compliance with the law, and accountability.

This was found in the Cameron school districts online catalog last month. The description of the video provides a warning, "It contains explicit information on birth control methods and should be previewed by and educator/adult prior to student viewing." Is that happening? That is the thing about adults grooming children. They have to do it in secret. This former teacher had s*xual contact with a student multiple times in his office and on a bus.

The teacher is facing a long list of charges, including s*xual abuse, statutory so**my, and s*xual contact with a student.

Good news! It looks like the school district and the board of education have finally decided to alter policy to help protect the children from s*xually explicit content!

They have called a special board of education meeting for December 6th. One of the 3 items for consideration is proposed alteration to policy IIAC-R1. That is the policy the district is using to review the books that were challenged. I will share a screenshot of the proposed changes below.

Item 6 allows them to remove a book for being in violation of Missouri statute 573.550.

These proposed changes will give the district the ability to restrict books for obsense materials without pictures. This is big. All the books we’ve been reading before the board appear to qualify to be on this restriction list.

What I do not see is change to policy for the selection of books. At a minimum, they should have the language for the new proposed item number 6 in the selection process and prohibit a book from being added that violated 573.550.

I would love to see selection policy changes which prohibits a book from being added which includes the “obscene material text without images”

We frequently hear the board of education tell us to reach out to them by email. They encourage us to communicate with them. But communication requires two people.

Below is a screenshot of an email I sent trying to do that very thing. I believe my questions are reasonable. I’ve not received a single response from anyone at the district or the board of education. This isn’t communication, they should start telling us to send them our speeches instead.

For years the district has been telling parents their children are "grade level proficient." That sounds wonderful, but what does it really mean? The MAP tests are graded on a curve and assigned a "cut score." Students who earn "grade level proficient" average 50-60 percent on those tests. In Cameron, less than half of our students are able to score as high as an F to be considered "proficent."

In my home we do not consider an F as acceptable.

The Cameron school district had a small updated about the book fight at last weeks board meeting. We will be uploading that video later today. They are talking about FINALLY altering policy to give it “some teeth”. No idea yet what that means and I will want to see the proposed changes, but this is progress.

The Cameron R-1 School district and board of education selectively enforce board policy BDDH-1 and violate the 1st and 14th amendment rights of concerned citizens. This appears to be a clear violation of the boards oath of office AND district policy by discriminating against my viewpoint.

I get that they do not enjoy my addresses to the board where I take them to task for their inaction about the s*xually explicit books in our school libraries. But it is my constitutional right to redress my grievances to them. Selectively enforcing that policy against me but not others is dirty and discrimination against me and my viewpoint. It is a violation of the 1st and 14th Amendment.

Interesting exchange between the editor of the Cameron newspaper and citizen Dan Landi after the school board meeting last night. You can hear the middle school principal call out Jimmy for his vulgar language in front of children. You can also see what appears to be a police officer ushering Jimmy out for his behavior.

Why would an editor of a paper ever repeat unconfirmed gossip as the truth, slander, as truth and in public while he knew a camera was recording him? Jimmy has previously taken us to task because we oppose the s*xually explicit content that is being provided to kids in the school. Is this related? Help me to get this to make sense.
