Here are a couple of maps for you to take a look at regarding preliminary snowfall amounts from the December 13-14, 2025 event. My total here in Newcomerstown ended up being 7.5". That was just 1/2 inch below what the models were point out as being the "high end" or range of potential snowfall in this area. The map with the smaller dots is from CoCoRaHS and the larger dots is from the Wilmington, Ohio Weather service.

Here are the latest forecasts regarding total snowfall today into tonight (Saturday). It has begun snowing in many parts of Ohio and it looks like the highest amounts could be along the US Route 50 corridor between Marietta, Belpre and Jackson, Ohio. Other locations as far north as SR 39 or US Route 30 could measure up to 6, isolated 7 inch totals. Once the snow is over another winter hazard sets in. Wind chill. Wind chill readings may drop to below -10°F west of Columbus tonight into Sunday morning. PLEASE be sure outdoor animals have a place to take shelter once this brief cold snap sets in. Fear not though, readings will enter the 50's by Wednesday or Thursday, but only temporarily.

With the impending snow event Saturday into Sunday, I have called up the most recent snowfall prediction maps as issued by the weather services in Cleveland, Wilmington, Charleston, West Virginia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. These are "range" predictions, in other words the least to the most possible as of now.

When measuring snow do it away from building is possible but in relatively confined areas when the wind can not blow the snow around making it more difficult to measure.

Please post your snowfall reports and photos if possible. Thanks!

Did you know...? CORN SWEATS? That's right. An acre of corn on the average sweats up to the equivalent of 4,000 GALLONS of moisture a DAY!!! No wonder the humidity and dew points surge upwards in the farming areas. And there's a TON of that corn sweat falling across Ohio right now!! Have you seen any hail? If so please report when SAFE TO DO SO how big it was compared to a coin and where you observed it.
