Bringing you local stories and local news about local people. Well, alright, I’ll admit it. I’m a local. And yep, I said it when I was little.

Born and raised in Vancouver, WA and both of my parents are native Camasonians. That I would never live in Camas. And here I am, some thirty years later, living in Camas, raising my family, enjoying my community and loving every minute of it. I love the town, the schools, the community and I love, love, love the people. So when I was pondering what direction my life was veering now that both of my

kids are in school all day, I discovered I was really passionate about my community. You know, the place where you spend most of your time. The place within a 10 mile radius that you shop, drive, visit and run errands of every sort. The place where we are all living right now doing our best on our journey to either raise a family, enjoy retirement or just enjoying the ride of life. Along with my passion for my community is my passion for talking to people, getting to know them and hear their stories. As I’m learning in life everyone has a story. All these stories help me see things differently, teach me new things, enlighten me and help me to become a better person. I’m hoping that by sharing positive stories from our community it will in turn show you an angle you might not have looked from, teach you something you didn’t know and enlighten and put a new spin on things. I’m following a dream of mine by starting this project and maybe it will inspire you to follow a dream as well. My dream is to get out in my community, report on businesses making a go of it out there, people making a difference, and just some good Camas news. I can’t imagine another tax increase. The citizens recently approved an increase for a new fire station. Now this? When does it stop? This is not the fix, in my opinion. What do you think?

Love the Salt Lake City airport! Great shops, good food and laid out so well! Also, a special shout out for their restrooms! I know it sounds odd but as a flight attendant I appreciate when an airport restroom is easy to use for passengers! Plenty of space to bring your suitcase in the stall so you don’t have to do an awakened dance to get in. Lots of hooks for bags and purses etc. Who wants to put that on the floor!?!? And a shelf to set things while you do your business! You rock Keep it up!

Burn ban.🔥

Due to dry conditions from lack of rainfall and the inherent fire danger with this condition, Camas-Washougal Fire Department’s Fire Chief Cliff Free and Fire Marshal Ron Schumacher have issued a recreational burn ban in the cities of Camas and Washougal.

All outdoor fires using wood fuel are prohibited. Barbecues or grills using charcoal or gas and gas fire pits are still allowed at this time.

This ban is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.

Yummmmmmmm! Tried the waffles for the first time at Red Leaf Organic Coffee Co. and they were delicious! Warm, a little crispy on the outside and smelled just like a waffle cone! Great food items on the menu! Stop by and check them out with your cup o coffee!

If you are looking for a delicious salad dressing, I cannot recommend this enough! They’re raising money for the Camas Community Resource Center and want to get some new underwear for kids for the school year! A wonderful event is happening in our town! Empty Bowls Camas 2024 is happening September 17th from 5:30-7:30 There will be delicious soups AND you get to choose a handmade bowl as a reminder of the empty bowls in the world due to hunger. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Interfaith Treasure House that provides food for Camas and Washougal. This is a wonderful event and we hope you can attend. It will be held at the Jazzercise Camas building at 514 NE Dallas St in Camas.
