Space Settlement 2021 is a free virtual event showcasing the technologies, people and organizations that will lead us to the settlement of the final frontier! Space Settlement 2021 presents the finest minds in this revolutionary movement, with experts the latest visions of humanity’s migration into space: where we will go, why we will go there, and how we will do so. Highlights include: a STEM space settlement competition, today’s incremental steps to space settlement, the classic ideas of Dr. Gerard K. O’Neill, new initiatives by visionaries such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and other NewSpace visionaries, and much more. On July 16, the National Space Society proudly presents "A Day in Space," a day-long virtual event featuring some of the best and brightest of the Space Age and beyond. As a respondent to our outreach, you have been entered in the drawing for several special prizes, and winners will be announced on Monday, July 20, the 51st anniversary of the landing of Apollo 11! Winners will be notified via email and posted on the NSS event sites www.adayinspace.nss.org and space.nss.org.

Presenters include NSS leaders, Apollo astronauts and flight directors, engineers and scientists working on NASA’s planetary exploration programs, astrophysicists searching for habitable exoplanets, and educators, physicians, and investors focusing on the business and future of NewSpace and space settlement.

"A Day in Space" features an exclusive interview with Buzz Aldrin and presentations by Apollo Flight Director Gerry Griffin, Apollo astronauts Walt Cunningham, Fred Haise and Al Worden (recorded in 2019). Also on tap are NewSpace investor extraordinaire Steve Jurvetson, exoplanet hunter Sara Siegel, space medicine expert Shawna Pandya, JPL Chief Engineer Rob Manning, author Rod Pyle, and many more.

"A Day in Space" is hosted by NSS president Geoffrey Notkin and planetary scientist Sian Proctor, and begins at 11 a.m. EDT / 8 a.m. PDT (1500 GMT) on July 16 and will be available across multiple venues:

I think we need to get out in front with respect to the narrative on this. NASA is trying to do something right, let's let the politician know that it matters to us. This is what I wrote and sent today.

Dear Representative Raskin, Senators Van Hollen, and Cardin::

In these challenging times the importance of the investment we make in providing for the future, including space exploration and development, is not to be underestimated. It serves as a foundation for hope. It serves as an affirmation that we are a resilient society that will not be deterred from lending our efforts to forging a brighter tomorrow
