This is Snaggy mountain, a music and arts based farm, blossoming into an artistic eco-village and concert venue. We're tucked into the heart of the ancient Blue Ridge Mountains and nestled between the vibrant city scenes of both Asheville and Boone. The land is large, as is our vision for it, and with your help we're building a small village for artists, recording studio, and outdoor concert venue
that will start with local bands and move towards facilitating symphonies and speakers such as the Dali Lama, backdropping Earth's greatest art-forms with a heavenly view of the highest mountains in the East . Boasting 50+ mature apple trees, this old family land is ripe, and speaks for itself, it sings really. The farm is underway, and in our first year, 2012, we've established large scale berry, asparagus, and hop operations as well began building soils, designated permaculture ares, and chicken and goat symbiosis. 2013 goals include a vineyard, planting of an edible forest, and expanded vegetable production. During season we grow an abundance of vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers to eat, share and and sell at the farmers market, to restaurants and our small CSA. Being amidst one of the most bio-diverse regions in the country we're surrounded by a vast variety of wild edible/medicinal plants and mushrooms. We're passionate about these ancient species that mystify and christen the mountainsides, and a main ingredient in our mission's recipe is to promote the knowledge of these bountiful and enriching presences of the forests. The land is our canvas there is much building to be done, we want nothing more than to make it our masterpiece. We just completed the first cabin which is quite large and made of 95% recycled materials, mostly old barn wood, and insulated with cardboard. We're in hopes that a tipi is soon to arrive, and this year's planned building projects include a stage for concerts, a root cellar, an outdoor kitchen with a cob oven, and a small dwelling made of primarily pallets. Smaller projects include solar food dehydrators, more solar ovens, a bike powered washing machine, bat houses, a wood fired hot tub and so on. We're in dire need of someone well equipped with skills in carpentry to come and unleash them on the farm.
