11 PM update:

Milton has weakened a little this evening as it has undergone some structural changes, but still remains a very powerful CAT 5 hurricane.

There is very little change to the track forecast. Milton will get picked up by a trough tomorrow and will begin turning to the northeast in the direction of our west coast. We will get a better sense of the landfall point tomorrow which will be important in determining who receives the highest surge and the strongest winds.

The last sentence of the 11 pm National Hurricane Center discussion is important. Please take this storm seriously.

"Residents in Florida should closely follow the orders from their local emergency management officials, as Milton has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for west-central Florida."

CAT 4 (140 mph winds) Helene is nearing landfall. Looks like the worst will slide just east of Tallahassee, but they will still have some wind damage.

Helene continues to intensify and is now a category 4 hurricane as it rapidly nears the Big Bend of Florida. Our winds will continue to turn to the southwest as the storm moves north of our latitude.
