Cherish those friends. Cherish those times. Time together is brief.

T Val was one of those people and great times were had within the brief moments shared by a bunch of loved people who had everything to do with what we were doing.

Im sure glad I volunteered to film T. Val after my pal Miriam mentioned she had sumthing phancee brewing.

And those films I submitted to the Independent Film Makers Co-Op. Which were shown in NYC 2016.

MT. Zion Fund for Blues, Music and Justice an established non profit organization has been tapped to conduct research for the family and folks of the historic Riverside Hotel, located in Clarksdale. Possibly most infamous for the spot where the Empress of the Blues Bessie Smith died. It was a hospital before a hotel.
MZMF has been an immense financial and committed supporter of all things I do in Mississippi. They are a fantastic group doing fascinating, and amazing work ensuring the non erasure of Black culture and history.

If you have visited the hotel and are interested in sharing stories, photos, video OR what have YOU, PLEASE consider participating.

The Mt. Zion Memorial Fund for Blues, Music, and Justice (MZMF) entered into an agreement in 2024 with the Riverside Hotel African American Historic Preservation Center (RHAAHPC) to conduct historical research and further document the historical significance of perhaps the most important tourist attraction in Clarksdale—the Riverside Hotel, “where blues gave birth to rock and roll.”

MZMF designed this survey to identify new sources of information about the hospital, hotel, its founder, Mrs. Z. L. Ratliff Hill, and her son, Frank Ratliff, as well as provide donors and blues enthusiasts with an easy method to share information and media about the hotel. We are also looking to interview people about their experiences at the hotel, and we hope to connect the RHAAHPC to blues enthusiasts who stayed at the hotel.
If you have information, photographs, videos, or other media about the hotel, and you would like to share it with the RHAAHPC, please answer the questions in this short survey below. If you provide contact information, we will reach out to you as soon as possible.

The Mt. Zion Memorial Fund agreed to work with the Riverside Hotel to conduct historical research and create the community archive in 2024.

The same woman who told me she experiences racism all time because she is a white Blues musician. 🤪😂😂

The podcast expressed the continued cruelty and stuggle of Black Mississippians who exhibit dignity love and admiration, and why they live in fear.

how one angry bitter hateful persons deceitful actions puts innocent harmless people in REAL danger.

Mississippi John Hurt’s home was destroyed by fire. Local authorities deemed it an accident caused by an electrical spark, however the FBI and other outside agencies have been brought in to conduct their own investigation.

Meanwhile the Hurt Family and Foundation with no evidence were accused by the local sheriff of stealing John Hurts Mississippi Blues Trail Marker.

It was not stolen. It was removed from its original location awhile back by the Blues Commission, because John Hurts marker was place at a location irrelevant to his life. His marker was placed at a long abandoned general store. When in operation it catered to whites only.

Gaslighting, foul play, and vicious gossip all distractions from the obvious.

According to this interview with Mary Hurt, Johns grand daughter her family are the only black family left in Carroll County Ms, land owners for 100 years.

Beautiful, caring, smart, resilient, focused, determined, devoted genuine, generous kind and admiral people.

What is going on when a community wants to destroy history, ruin economic reward, and terrorize lifelong citizens?

Ohhhh Mississippi STOP with the polite crap. This situation is an excellent example of organized actions of the K*K.
