In this week's episode of "Weaving the Blanket: Stories of Faith, Sacrifice, Martyrdom and the Emancipation of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Bolivia, we learn of the early life of Dr. German Crespo: a Mestizo, who, as a teenager was threatened by the Government, Received an M.D. in Europe, made a life-changing Advent Decision to return to Bolivia. and then worked with the IEMB and the Bolivian Human Rights Commission. It's approximately 23 minutes long. His story is important because of what happens in next week's episode, and in the docudrama of "July 17th, 1980" to be aired on September 9th.

This week we hear about a couple traveling through Sapecho who died overnight from hunger and illness, leaving an abandoned 2 year old boy. With no contacts and no one who knew who the little boy’s extended family was, or even his name. With most families barely feeding themselves, no one was willing to add this additional mouth to feed. But then an amazing family of three orphaned kids, aged 17, 13 and 10 living alone in Sapecho volunteered to adopt the baby! GREAT STORY – and we hear where the Corsons and Benjo were on the night of July 16, 1980.

Tells the incredible story of an orphaned family made up of a 17-year-old boy, a 12-year old girl, and a 10 year-old boy who adopt an orphan baby because no ...

Sorry I’m late getting this episode out. Joanie and I celebrated 50 years of marriage this weekend with the kids and families. So I didn’t get the last episode out.
Here it is! S4 E4: “Benjo’s Conversion &Benjo’s & Corsons work in Sapecho. It is a powerful story of his conversion and they work he did with the Corsons in Sapecho to improve the lives of villagers there.

I spent 3 hours at Eli’s Pizza in La Paz with yet another person with an amazing life story: Benjamin Peredes better known as ‘Benjo’. In this episode Benjo is orphaned, becomes an anti-American communist, and about his first encounter with the Corsons.

You’re going to love this story.

This week’s episode tells about the early lives of Ken and Sarah Corson and of their four children. It tells of their search and discovery of an incredibly unique, creative and culturally appropriate way of pastoring and sharing the Gospel in Bolivia: NOT as U.S. missionaries to Bolivia, but as IEMB pastors serving directly under the IEMB bishop.
And these two episodes will help you understand S5 E4 (which drops on 9/30/23) when Sarah has the courage to stare down a Neo-Nazi who had put a gun in her gut and announced: “I am here to kill all Americans and all Methodists”! And Sarah’s reply? “Well, you will be killing me because I atam both!”
Where did that courage come from? Watch this episode and next week’s to find out.

Weaving the Blanket: S3 E5: "The Aymara ERUPTION within the IEMB" drops now! Tells the story of the indigenous Methodists OCCUPYING (taking over the offices of the IEMB and forcing the resignation of bishop Arias), as the result of growing frustations with the US missionaries and the Criollo/Mestizo Methodist leadership dragging their feet in including indigenous Methodists in leadership positions.

S3 E5 Drops now! Episode 5: The Aymara ERUPTION within the Evangelical Methodist Church in Bolivia. Tells of the OCCUPATION of the IEMB office where indigenous Methodists stormed the IEMB offices, forced everyone out of the building, leaving behind all computers and records, and took over the IEMB after years of frustrating feet dragging by US missionaries and the Criollo and Mestizo Methodist leadership in opening up access to leadership positions within the IEMB.

Dear Friends:
At 6:00pm tonight I am publishing a BRAND NEW episode of “Weaving the Blanket”. It is Season #3 Episode #0: “Introduction to this very controversial season 3: “The Aymara Revolution Within the IEMB”.
The Aymara Revolution within the IEMB is nearly as controversial within the IEMB as the gay issue is within the UMC. The many of the missionaries (both U.S. and South American) see it one way, and the indigenous Methodists see it completely different. I am trying to be balanced in my reporting of the facts of what happened, and the different viewpoints on these events. However, I personally take a stance with the indigenous on this. But it is important to hear both sides.
This episode also explains why I am doing this history despite the fact that I am not a Bolivian, barely speak any Spanish, and have never lived in Bolivia. But I HAVE been going to Bolivia for over 35 years. This episode also explains my definition of “cultural elitism”. So it is a very important episode to hear.

Click below for Season 3 Episode 0: “Introduction to the Controversial Season #3”.

I am also rereleasing the 11 episodes of Season #2: “Turning Towards the Indigenous”. This is the link to Season #2.
Please repost this on your page and share it with those who may be interested in this topic.

Next week I will publish episode S3 E1: The Historical Context for the Aymara Revolution Within the IEMB.”

I am restarting the podcast/YouTube series: “Weaving the Blanket: Stories of Faith, Sacrifice, Martyrdom and the Emancipation of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Bolivia”.
This series is targeted for persons interested in some very specific and topics. You might be interested in one “season” and not in a different “season”.
Three years ago, I set entirely unrealistic goals for producing “Weaving the Blanket”. I had hoped to research, write, record, edit, and produce a new episode each week for both an iTunes podcast and a YouTube broadcast. Shows you how amateur and unrealistic were my goals!
I had to stop and start twice over the last couple of years. To add to the delays, I have been gathering tons of wonderful new information to include in the series.
The good news is that I have completed writing, recording, and editing 43 episodes spread over 5 seasons.
Today, May 6th, 6:00pm CDT; 7:00pm Bolivian time, I will be ‘dropping’ all 5 episodes of Season 1 AGAIN:
Here is the link to an 8 minute introductory video you may have seen on Wednesday.
Link below to the YouTube Season 1 where you can access all 9 episodes of Season 1: "500 Years of Violent Evangelism".

I also would like some feedback.

I have very few followers/listeners as best as I can tell. Perhaps 25 on the "Weaving" although Juan Carlos and I have something over 100 and perhaps even 200 on the Spanish version: "Tejiendo El Aguayo".

I believe I should go back and cut the number and length of the episodes way way back to perhaps a third or less of the time I've broadcasted so far. I researched all of this stuff, and I want to tell you about all of it, because I find it interesting. However, I think for the average FaceBook and YouTube watcher/listener/ a lot of it isn't all that interesting. So I am thinking about going back and 'streamlining' all of the episodes, and perhaps leave some episodes out. I especially need to shorten and summarize all of the 'background information' on Bolivian politics, international politics, etc. And maybe some on the Church politics also. I'll move them into bonus podcasts for those few who are interested in that. And I am thinking about putting the early life of some of the IEMB persons into bonus broadcasts to shorten the may storyline of the oppression, persecution and emancipation of the IEMB.

I would be VERY interested in your views. Please post
