In all the years we have been going to Silver Dollar City, we have never stopped at the Pick-a-Pearl shop. When our daughter saw that she could get a free pendant with her birthday button, she wanted to stop! Wilma Leroya Parker is so knowledgeable about the oysters and the process of making a pearl…she explained every step to us. The kids were shocked that under all the slime and goo was such a beautiful treasure! She even told us where the oyster came from, what it weighed and gave her a certificate of authenticity. This week, Shera and I took our kids to the Time Travel Cafe in Fair Grove. Sadly, we learned this morning that Time Travel Cafe has closed their doors permanently after being forced from the building they were in.

This is truly a shame. The food was great, and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. When we were there on Wednesday, there were no indications that this was coming.

Experiences like this are exactly why Shera and I feel it’s so important to showcase small, locally owned (mom and pop) restaurants and shops. These places are often some of the very best around, and they deserve our support. We’ll continue to highlight them whenever we can.

We wish the owners of Time Travel Cafe nothing but the best in their future endeavors. Hopefully we can see them again in another location.

My daughter really wanted some Lambert’s rolls for her birthday dinner, so while she was at school we picked some up. We didn’t go to Lambert’s though—we went behind Lambert’s to a place called Ole Norm's Trading Post. This is a really cool general store with all kinds of stuff. We spent about 45 minutes just looking around! They offer everything from gift items to camping supplies, and they have Lambert’s rolls and Hub Cap cinnamon rolls you can take home. They sell a lot of Lambert’s items, such as sorghum molasses and honey!

They even have a “Roll Thru” drive-through window if you don’t want to get out of your car! If you want rolls but don’t have time to stop for dinner, this place is for you.

Branson was live on The Today Show this morning, so I got up dark and early to be a part of it! My friend Tina and I wore our matching sparkly pants and made signs to get the full experience! Such a fun time and very cool memory we will cherish forever! Today is the annual Silver Dollar City employee Christmas Dinner! Every year, they make us a Christmas dinner with turkey, ham and all the fixins! The only problem is now we have to give cave tours on a full stomach! Pictured here are cave guides Johnny, RJ and myself.

Today Shera and I took our boys to lunch at a very unique spot that’s definitely off the beaten path. Time Travel Cafe feels like stepping into a time capsule—part diner, part museum, and all kinds of cool! There is 80s nostalgia everywhere you look.

We all went for burgers, and they were top notch. From the Marty McFly Burger from 1985 to the All-American Burger from 1955, every bite was fantastic. We also had SMOKED fries, which we had never had before, and they were amazing!

Time Travel Café is tucked away in downtown Fair Grove, about a 50-minute drive north of Branson. It’s a small, family owned place that’s worth the drive. As always, I have included the menu in the photos. Cave Guide Corey approved!

Anyone ever had this before? Picked it up down in Arkansas. It says it’s great on biscuits, pancakes, and toast. Shera’s a little unsure…but I’m curious, so we’re giving it a try! Brenda put her picture on it, so it has to be good!
