Post by Shera: Talk about an adventure! We all need a little help from our friends sometimes…This photo was taken today after we finished a mission in Ozark, MO! I would like to introduce you to just a few of the gorgeous women that make up the Springfield Hot Mess Express Chapter!

This amazing group of ladies exists to help our fellow sisters who are in crisis. We descend upon the funk that overwhelms us all, and, as a team, we work together to relieve anxiety and stress in the form of household chores. No judgement, no embarrassment, just LOVE!

There are HME chapters all over the U.S, if you are interested in volunteering in your area, or nominating a fellow sister! If you don’t see one near you, I can get you info on starting one!

We’ve heard so many good things about The Fillin' Station, Lampe MO, so we had to go try it for ourselves! I had the Pulled Pork and Brisket combo, and Shera had the Friday special, which is Catfish (She loves catfish). Both were very good! I planned on ordering the Catfish, but once we arrived, the smell of BBQ and the smoker changed my mind. It was a happening place this afternoon, and we’ll definitely be back. We were so full we didn’t order dessert, but they had many to choose from! We sure will next time! I added the menu to the pics.

Shera and I took advantage of the warmer weather to get out and explore the newly reopened Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery visitors center. We’ve really missed this place over the past two years while it was closed for renovations, but it was worth the wait!

The new facility is more than 2.5 times the size of the old visitor center and offers so much more for guests, including a 7,500-gallon aquarium and wildlife exhibits. Best of all, admission is free! (Though we did spend 25¢ to feed the trout—totally worth it!)

We had a local favorite for lunch today! Established in 1910, Branson Cafe is Branson’s oldest restaurant. There’s a reason it has been around for so long. I had the club sandwich. It was massive and so good! Shera had the fried fish and said it could be the best she’s ever tasted. And that says a lot! I’ll soon be going back to try their broasted chicken. Branson Cafe is located on Main Street in downtown Branson.

Here are Hugo and Mary Herschend at the Marvel Cave counter at Marvel Cave Park, well before the days of Silver Dollar City. I noticed the postcards for sale on the counter, so I searched my collection to see if I had one. Sure enough, I found one! That’s Levi “Uncle Ike” Morrill from the Notch post office. Even though he passed away in 1926, we was a popular Ozarks figure into the 1950s and beyond!

Shera and I used to get a calzone from Mazzio’s a couple of times per month…but that changed on February 29, 2012, when the Branson Mazzio’s was blown away by a tornado. So now, when we head to Oklahoma, we stop in Mount Vernon to get our Mazzio’s fix! We are OK bound right now!

We’ve been seeing a lot of chipmunks lately. They are getting ready for winter. This one didn’t mind the camera!

Here’s a cool little waterfall that flows over Point Lookout at College of the Ozarks into Lake Taneycomo. Such a beautiful area!

The chimes of Williams Memorial Chapel at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO ring loudly through the day.

My kids’ favorite thing to do after dark during the fall at SDC is take a walk through Foggy Hollow. To be honest, it’s my favorite thing too!
