Last day of Harvest Fest at SDC. It’s a sad time for me. Not only is it my favorite festival, but it’s also when the Jerky stand closes for the season! This is Judy! This sweet lady is the best! She greets everyone with the kindest smile, and she starts gathering my favs as soon as she sees me coming! The weather today was miserable, but I had to go out and stock up on jerky, and of course use the last punch on my tasting passport! Gumbo and cheesy grits warmed me right up. ☺️ -Shera

It was a chilly, rainy morning, but the kids and I braved the weather for a good reason! We had fun welcoming the SDC Grand Fir into Branson, after its journey from Oregon! We can’t wait to see it all lit up in the Plaza next week!! Christmas in Branson starts Nov. 1! Who else will be there for opening weekend and the official lighting of the new tree?🌲 -Shera

Our college kid called last night and said he was bringing some friends home tonight, and requested my white chicken chili for dinner! Momma doubled the recipe and was happy to oblige!! 🥰❤️ - Shera

The kids had a half day of school today, so we decided to check out the newest location of Panther Den Pizzeria for lunch! You might remember our post about the Forsyth location a few months ago, and now we can enjoy the same great pizza, subs, pasta and salads right here in Branson! This location is much bigger and has a ton of games! I was actually a little shocked when I saw how reasonable the game card prices were! The kids were able to play for over an hour on $20! They especially loved the Prize Hub! All your tickets are stored on your game card and you redeem them in a giant vending machine of prizes!!

There is a pool hall in the back with large TVs! (Bar coming soon, liquor license pending) This would be a great place to watch all the games with your friends!! Panther Den is owned and operated by a young couple who grew up in Branson. When you go in, you’ll most likely see them there working, preparing food and serving!

Everything was delicious and the service was amazing! Definitely Mrs. Cave Guide Corey and kids approved! 😉 Located at 3460 W 76 Blvd. Hours temporarily are Thurs-Sun 11-7. Make sure to tell them Cave Guide Corey sent you, and your first game of pool is on the house! - Shera

Today for lunch we took the short drive over to Rockaway Beach and finally checked out a spot we’ve heard so much about, Cedar Restaurant . The moment you see the menu, you realize this is not your average mom-and-pop diner. The selections alone tell you these folks know what they’re doing—and I was right. Everything we ordered was superb!

One thing that really sets Cedar Restaurant apart is its mission. All proceeds support “New Life USA,” a nonprofit that helps people battling addiction and going through tough situations. So not only is the food incredible—you’re supporting a life-changing cause with every meal.

Now for the important part: the food!

Usually Shera is the one who orders catfish, but today I switched it up and I went for it. And it was absolutely awesome! Shera ordered the brisket, and of course I had to sample it. Two thumbs up from me!

Since Tuesdays are free pie day, I added a slice of pumpkin pie to my order, which was fantastic. Shera got a slice of carrot cake to go. She doesn’t know it yet, but I snuck a tiny bite…and she’s going to love it.

I’ve already decided I’m going back on a Saturday, because that’s when the special is Prime Rib. Can’t wait to try that!

Another thing I should add is it is located right along the shore of Lake Taneycomo. If you dine on the deck, the views are awesome!

I have included photos of the menu so you can see all the good stuff they offer. This place is officially Cave Guide Corey approved!

Shera and I found ourselves in Rockaway Beach today and enjoyed a peaceful walk along the shores of Lake Taneycomo. It’s hard to imagine now, but Rockaway Beach was the place to be in the 1950s. My grandfather’s senior class even took their trip here in 1950!

Before Table Rock Dam was built, Lake Taneycomo was a warm-water playground thanks to Powersite Dam in 1913. People flocked to Rockaway Beach for swimming, nightly rentals, bumper cars, arcades, motels, dining, and summer fun that stretched late into the night. It was truly a lively resort town.

That all changed in 1958 when Table Rock Dam was completed, turning Taneycomo into a cold-water lake—great for trout, but far too chilly for swimming. The vacation scene faded, but Rockaway still has its charms. Today it’s known for trout fishing, cozy rentals, and a couple of great local restaurants, just a few miles down the lake from Branson.

So many have messaged and commented asking how I’m doing because I’ve been pretty quiet on here for a few days. I am doing well thank you all so much! A dear friend had surgery a few days ago and I’ve been taking care of her. It’s a beautiful day in the Ozarks, and I decided to get outdoors and go on a cave tour with my favorite guide! -Shera 😊

I just had a very special guest on my cave tour. This is Jonn Herschend, the son of Silver Dollar City co-founder Peter Herschend. Even though his family owns Silver Dollar City, he waited in line just like everybody else and even bought the picture at the end! I think he looks just like Pete!
