SooooOOOoooo rEtRo 🤙 thank you Alex Musleh for bringing the Super 8. Not only is some of the footage you shot making it into the final cut, it is DEFINITELY making it into the final cut. The day was hot AF peak Florida summer, but everyone did their ultimate and I’m stoked to the dome with what we have to work with in the edit.

About the Project: Vocal Motion Pictures has been hired to write and produce a modest-budget online ad for a small company on their first attempt at breaking into the consumer products market.

I've worked with this manufacturer for a few years producing micro-budget content for them and finally talked them into something much grander. We're looking to give their audience something really powerful to look and remember when they think about their product.

Our script is a whole lot of fun and we're looking for incredible talent to help us make this thing as outstanding as possible.

Helping cool startups shape their product perception is our jam. Florida's sunny vibes and palm trees help fuel the vibrancy in our work. Working on Cirqle was a blast as we got to dive into the product, craft app profiles, and spin a story showcasing its transformative impact on sharing digital creative profiles in real life. It’s a lot different than a regular business card and we can't wait for the next iteration of this thing.

We got to partner with a local startup in Florida called Classic Estate Keys which produces premium, high quality CNC cut house keys not for sale directly to consumers but through locksmiths. We were tasked with a difficult challenge of pitching the product to locksmiths to get them on board with carrying the product.

This was challenging because we had to essentially BECOME the locksmith to understand what matters to THEM—what matters to them is what matters to their customers.

Needless to say, we again played with different locations, lighting setups, and scenarios to make an impression on locksmiths.

We pretty much always storyboard before we shoot. Check out the storyboard frames and then final video cut for this birthday card commercial we shot.

Storyboards let you show the client exactly what you're gonna shoot & how the final edit is gonna look.

You're also able to get through the production day more efficiently and quicker, too. Plus, it makes the edit easier.

It kinda just makes the whole production process from start to finish way easier, really.

Lots of folks don't storyboard and that's cool, too. For us it just makes things a hell of a lot easier. Plus it's cool to share the before and after—sometimes I'm like, "How the hell did we even match the storyboards so well?"

LONG ZOOM ALERT ☢️ We shot the comedy “Macho!” with the dynamic Bahr duo (Courtney and Duncan). (BTW: this is not an official cut from the film, I'm not even the editor, but it's a quick cut I threw together on set for fun, AND IT'S FUN!!).

Their film is whacky and they’ve got a lot of WILD tricks up their sleeves with this one. YOU’LL SEE.

But behind the camera Masha and I tamed up to pull of some complicated camera tricks of our own working the Ange super zoom. Went for the classic feeling loooong zoom outs and crash zooms to compliment the retro and comedic vibe of the film.

Saw an interview recently where the A-cam on the subject was like super wide. Really liked the look of it and tried it on this interview with Andy Dick’s ex-fiance of all people? Yes, that Andy Dick. She was WILD, and in the news recently for some really off the wall sh*t. But the shots came out really great! Love the ultra wide A-cam look, and especially with the set decoration help from my incredible wife

This’ll be a part in a documentary on Andy Dick called “The Sad Little Angel Clown (Who That Cries)” — looking forward to seeing that. Thanks for having me shoot this for ya!

So, got to not only witness a BRAIN SURGERY this month, but got to get right the heck up in there with my camera to document the entire thing from any angle I needed to, really. Very excited to have invite me out to shoot it and light for them.

It was a really tight squeeze in the surgeon's office, but the talking head stuff came out really killer! Don't you think?

Also, when you undergo brain surgery... YOU'RE AWAKE THE ENTIRE TIME. I DID NOT know that.

Cooked up a killer commercial for VidaVac. We got to write, shoot & edit this fun piece for their vacuum sealer—which is a very solid appliance to keep in your kitchen, by the way; the thing seals pretty much any container and makes digging into the leftovers super simple.
