Clouds have cleared confirming a winter wonderland for many! #COWX #NMwx
What beautiful comma cloud structure our departing low pressure has! Look at all the snow left behind across NM and CO this morning! #COWX #NMwx
Two beautiful cyclones visible from space on this Friday: one cold-core (our Colorado snowstorm) and one warm-core (Hurricane Rafael). Ironically, they both are feeding off water from the Gulf of Mexico #COWX
WEDNESDAY 3:30 PM UPDATE: After snowing for ~24hrs straight, we're finally seeing signs that this wave is on the way out of the Metro area (for now). Snow will continue to decline in intensity/coverage this evening, lingering longest west and south. More snow is expected tomorrow & Friday though! #COWx
Sunday 7:15PM: Light to moderate rain is now engulfing much of the area (moderate snow in the Foothills). We're at 39°F in #Boulder with rain as temperatures continue to cool. May see some flakes mixing in at times, but we're still several hours away from any change over #COWX
Another stunning fall weekend... perhaps the last one for a while. Enjoy this time lapse of a Chinook arch cloud over Boulder. Happy Sunday! #cowx
😍 Beautiful gravity wave cloud structure stretching across much of northern Colorado this morning! #COWX
Quick shot of rain showers moving through most of the Denver area now. It'll be done pretty quick with sunshine and gusty winds on tap for the rest of our Monday!
430 PM Friday Update: Light rain is pushing into the Denver Metro area now. Sadly this short burst of rain (high Foothills snow) this evening may be the best we see this weekend. Models pretty much took the entire storm system south of us over the last 24 hours. Not hopeful to see too much precipitation north of Interstate 70 but it will definitely be chilly and gloomy. Hot cocoa weather indeed! ☕
Well, another 82-degree October day is in the books. A DRY cold front moves through tonight with temperatures closer to 70 for Tuesday. Plus there'll be some smoke behind this front that sticks around through Tuesday #COWX
There are THREE weather obstacles to seeing the aurora tonight in Colorado. Here's our recommendation for viewing!
1) Smoke: It's thickest to the east across the Eastern Plains. Don't go out there for viewing, though aurora can be seen through moderate smoke.
2) Cumulus clouds bubbling up over the terrain. These will fizzle out around or just after sunset. Don't be afraid to head up into the Mountains to get away from the light pollution.
3) Incoming mid-level clouds from the west. These should arrive to the Denver area between 9PM and midnight, with viewing thereafter becoming more challenging regionwide.
Considering all these factors, we recommend viewing between 8-11PM in a dark spot between Denver, Cheyenne, and Fort Morgan, or anywhere up in the Mountains with a good view of the (northern) sky.
Good luck everyone and enjoy the show. Don't let us down Sun!

The smoke is back... Ugh! It should be with us the rest of Wednesday, but clears out quickly Wednesday night.
