5 continents in one year. I learned more about myself solo traveling this year than I have in my whole life. I have found community and met people that make me feel accepted and happy. I have learned about the things in life that truly bring me joy. I have started the journey to love myself fully and completely. I have begun learning that boundaries are beautiful. Did you know this is how they run power in Cape Town? What other places have you been in the world that run the same? Everyplace I’ve lived before, my power bill is paid based on how much power I used in the past month after the face. ⚠️DO NOT SIT AT THE FRONT OF THE BUS ⚠️ ONE TOLD ME THIS TIP UNTIL AFTER MY FIRST 6 HOUR BUS RIDE… In Vietnam, it’s customary that vehicles rounding corners honk their horn to notify other drivers of their approach. On a lone bus rides with a loud horn this was hell. Also, it’s known that the drivers in Vietnam are the most dangerous in South East Asia. This driver was passing other busses on small downhill 2 lane roads going nice and fast. They say seats in the middle of the bus are both the safest (in case of a crash from the front or back), and the most peaceful/comfortable… Anything I missed? Can confirm my armpits smelled after this bus ride from anxious sweats… certainly didn’t nap as intended. #vietnam #vietnamtravel #traveltips #travelsafe #backpacker #rtw

What is your pet peeve while traveling?? People pushing ahead of other people instead of waiting their turn is my BIGGEST pet peeve. TIPS FOR BED BUGS ⬇️⬇️ Don’t. Hahaha. But actually. It is not uncommon if you’re traveling full time that you’ll run into bedbugs. I always check my bunk before putting down/unpacking any of my things, or getting in bed to sleep. Look in the corners, under blankets, and under the mattress. If they do get into your bag, you have a whole week of hell trying to get rid of them… If you do see bed bugs, notify the hostel immediately and see if they can switch your bed. If they do get into your bag, you need to wash all your clothing and make sure everything goes into a tumble drier. The heat helps kill them. If you’re in a hot climate, you can also bag your things in black plastic bags and keep out in the sun for 3-5 days.
