Thanks to some scheduling conflicts, I did only make it to one cx race this season, but it’s a great one! Ice Weasels is the last bike race in my 2025 calendar - I’m still firming up the 2026 races we’ll be at but that probably won’t kick off until March. In the meantime, if you or someone you know needs photographs, please get in touch. Basketball, wrestling, giant slalom, snow bike world champs, road camp on Tenerife (I’m never giving up on that possibility), or whatever else, let’s figure it out.
One of my (many) favorite things about Ice Weasels is that because it’s so late in the year, the last/best race of the day allows me to have the setting sun behind the riders. So the rest of the day I’m trying to figure out where the course lines up to take those pictures. And I had a new lens to try, the 85mm f1.2 with “defocus smoothing” which turned out to be pretty magical if you’re dumb enough to shoot bike racing at f1.2 (in fact, I am).
