Did you know that jackfruit trees make three types of flowers??

The male flower simply lets out pollen then shrivels and falls off. The female flower will turn into a fruit. And the third is a rare occurrence where the flower is actually both male and female! Most of the time these will fall off like the males but occasionally they will turn into an oddly shaped fruit!

Have you ever tried this fruit??

This fruit is commonly known as Malay Apple (Syzygium malaccense) but goes by a few different names depending on where you are from.

The fruit has one large seed in the center and the flesh is juicy, sweet, and has a semi floral taste! You know these are ripe and ready to be picked when they turn a deep reddish color. They are nice and refreshing on a hot day and fruit 2-3 times a year here in South Florida. The seeds for these and a lot of other edible plants I grow in my yard are available on my Etsy! Happy Planting!

Homemade Banana Bread from bananas I grew in my garden!

So simple yet so delicious!

Recipe:

Ingredients
- 3 large or 6 small ripe bananas
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions
1. *Preheat your oven* to 350°F (175°C), and grease a 4x8-inch loaf pan.
2. *Mash the ripe bananas* in a large mixing bowl with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
3. *Mix in the baking soda and salt*. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
4. *Add the flour* to the banana mixture and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
5. *Pour the batter* into the greased loaf pan, and bake for about 60 minutes, or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. *Let the bread cool* in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy!

Have you ever heard of the “Double Mahoi” Banana variety?

This incredible mutation of the “dwarf cavendish” banana variety regularly produces 2 or even 3 racks of bananas from a single plant!! Very unique and not something you see everyday! I just added one of these plants to my yard and will make an update as it produces fruit! If you want one of these plants I now have them in my shop (the link will be in the comments). Happy planting!

Did you know you can turn any citrus fruit into a candle with just olive oil and a lighter?

1. Cut the fruit in half sideways (the stem and bottom end should point down on each half when cut end is up)

2. With a small knife cut out the fruit segments and set aside to eat later

3. Squeeze out as much remaining juice as possible

4. Carefully clean the inside remove any remaining fruit pieces or pith except DO NOT REMOVE THE CORE!! That is going to be your wick!

5. Add in olive oil being sure to coat the wick but leave a small portion above the oil

6. Light the wick, be patient as it will need some time to dry out before it will catch (can take 20-30 sec)

7. Enjoy your new candle!

Have you ever seen a Pink Coconut??!

This is called the Wulung Coconut and it is a naturally occurring coconut variety native to the island of Java in Indonesia. Although common in some parts of the world they are hardly ever seen here in South Florida. I was lucky enough to acquire 2 of these trees for my garden from Xain's World Nursery and can’t wait to see the colors my trees will produce as each tree can vary from light to bright pink! Check my recent Facebook Reel to see the full video cutting it open!

From an accident that almost ended my life to a simple story time video that changed the course of my entire life more than I could have ever imagined. For the past three years I have grown a community and a platform of followers that I have taken along with me through the ups and the downs and through it all I wouldn’t change any part of it. I have grown so much in these past years. I went from working minimum wage without any plans for the future and struggling to get out of bed in the morning, to building a platform and community that have changed not only my financial life but have given me a purpose and a reason to get up every morning. In the past three years I’ve been invited to so many amazing events, traveled to Europe for a month to see new sights, was able to get a new car, create my own business, speak at conferences to bring awareness to the environment, build the garden of my dreams, and I was able to bring you all along (and hopefully teach you some new things) for the entire journey! I have no idea what will end up becoming of TikTok in the future and I of course will continue my videos here and my other platforms. But if this truly is the end of the era I just want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow an audience and a following that now encompasses many platforms, but I’ll always remember how I started and I’ll miss everything we built over there 💔 Thank you all for everything and I will resume my typical content soon ❤️‍🩹
