Marcus Kane On the origins of the song " Pray" from the Hand of Kane CD "Music for exorcisms"
" Id been thinking that there is probably no greater evil in the world than the evil that comes disguised as good...I mean when you are entrusted to teach a child about learning faith and instead you use it as a vehicle to abuse them..Id say its really time to pray...not so much for your own benifit as much as for the end to the ritual that has cast a black eye on religion as we know it. You cant claim to represent a greater good when you are the source of the evil. We often wonder why faith in all religions have waned in the last decade then we need only to read yet another story of how innocence was exploited and the deeds covered up by those who claim to preach the word of a higher power. Theres obviously something that draws the most unholy of actors to what should be the most holy of places. We will never hear all the names of those who were victimized..and a large portion of the reason is because those who should have instantly disavowed those responsible chose instead to deny it and cover it up....When I wrote pray I wrote it from the perspective of one of those children who were led to believe what was happening to them was either normal or their own fault...and when they did find the strength to speak out were silenced by the ones they were told would protect them from evil...
Im not trying to implicate the entire religion for the sins of some...but at the same time you cannot deny these things are happening and you should be asking yourself what it is that attracts evil in the holiest of places...If we fail to even protect children there..where ARE they supposed to go where they WILL feel safe and protected?"
"Pray" is currently #2 on the Goth charts in the state of NY via the N1 music charts
