Chimes' staff wins awards at
National College Media Association convention

The Chimes' staff won two awards in national competition this past weekend in New York City.

For the small school division, the staff received third place for its website, www.cuchimes.com.

For the Chimes’ print edition, the staff received an honorable mention.

The small school division includes nationwide institutions with 1,000
to 2,999 enrollment.

“I am honored that we received these awards,” Shirleeah Pasco,
editor-in-chief, said. “The staff has worked incredibly hard this year so seeing that payoff is an amazing feeling. I hope that we continue this streak in future years.”

“No one sees how hard this staff works, but I know they put in the hours and care about how their efforts look to their readers,” Kelly
Messinger, adviser, said.

The remarkable members of our team were able to attend the CMA's Spring National College Media Convention in New York City this past week.

In addition to meeting inspiring pioneers in our desired fields, we were able to immerse ourselves in the majestic, marvelous beast that is New York, New York.

This voyage would not have been feasible without Kelly Messinger, our anchor, greatest supporter and most outstanding possible advisor. Kelly supports and celebrates us like no other, despite not wanting us to cramp her style in NYC.

Last but surely not least, thank you to the finest editor-in-chief we could ask for. Shirleeah Pasco has invested her entire being in the Chimes, its members, our stories and our aspirations. Thank you, Shirleeah, for teaching us the value and beauty of tenacity. It is an unequivocal honor to serve under someone as courageous, diligent, and compassionate as you.

To the monstrous metropolis that never sleeps and its extraordinarily exhausted inhabitants, we'll be back.
