Had the pleasure of seeing Rocio Zavala at Elastic Arts in Chicago last year. She is a visual and sound artist from Mexico now based in LA, and this Invisible Miracles album is stellar. 💜 It was composed using a combination of synthesis, field recording, sampling, improvisation, looping, light amplification, and diy circuitry. The cassette is sold out but the album is available digitally on Bandcamp.

It’s Bandcamp Day, and here is a release we encourage you to support. An immersive vocal-drone and synth soundscape composed by Ansley Simpson for the documentary "Mashkawi-manidoo - Spirit to Soar."

“Spirit to Soar is a closer look at what has happened in the wake of the inquest into 7 Indigenous highschool student’s deaths in Thunder Bay, of how families and communities have struggled to carry on while pursuing justice for their loved ones and equity for First Nations People.

At its heart, this film is a story of the strength and bravery First Nations youth face every single day, when they walk out the front door and head to high school in a country that has tried to erase them. We are still here and thriving.”

All proceeds donated to the Mashkawi-manidoo bimaadiziwin - Spirit to Soar Fund which supports youth programs for Indigenous students in Thunder Bay and the surrounding regions dedicated to the safe transition from their home communities to the city, so they can pursue a highschool education.
