I realized the other day, while trying to realized my work doesn’t fit into an elevator pitch. I’m never going to have a strong easily understood brand,and a million followers. Maybe thats ok .It would take some time for me to get tired of photographing the San Francisco Bay Salt Ponds. I (Shot a year ago, found it in a folder today while looking for something else.)

The last two weeks have been intense with a flurry of different jobs. Working my way through the edits, comparing my expectations for each shot with the result. This photo is as good as I hoped for it, but not exactly what I wanted. Just a reminder as hard as I I may try, it’s an art not a science.

Pics 1 &2, It’s been a minute since I’ve used so much motion blur with flash freeze (a.k.a Shake-n-Bake) but it was a good method to combine the excitement of dance and the speed of a new train.

Pic 3: A funny moment during a ballet dance, but seemed more like a science-fi scene, “Welcome to our family in the sky.”

Yes, I’am primarily an infrastructure and transit photographer. So it was totally normal for me to be photographing models for as part of that work. BART did a great job putting on Project Doneway, a fashion competition using the old paper tickets as the primary medium for the garments. Despite being a boots and hard hat kinda guy, I miss working with youth and being an art student myself; it was fun to collaborate with young ambitious designers!

Did you know a city bus makes for an incredible rolling studio! Forty setups, ten hours, thanks for the hustle help .harrison and PS if you want to make your digi-tech nervous put them on a bus and have the bus make a few U-turns.

If you have ever visited the Sales Force Transitcenter roof top garden and thought, “Wow this is really big.” Well you could put the entire top floor garden and the tallest trees in the basement and have room to spare. The roughed out concrete train box is awaiting completion so it can become a hub for both the California High Speed Rail and the new electric CalTrain trains! Each concrete bay is where a train will enter the space. Thanks for providing a tour and scale!

There is something about trains and photography, they go together like cherries and chocolate. I went a bit above and beyond on this one. This is CalTrain’s latest and greatest Electric Train (EMU) shot with my large format 4x5 calumet using Kodak Tri-X 320. IG does not do this type of work justice. The details are fantastic!
