Snow beautiful snow!!! ❄️ we will be partially open tonight starting at 4pm. Bar is open and we will have sushi for dine in or carry out. The rest of the kitchen will not be open tonight. Closing time will be played by ear but we do plan to be open until at least 7pm. Stay safe everyone!!!

Fitch’s Dance Company staged its Christmas show this past weekend at Kalkaska High School auditorium. The event included a performance of the Nutcracker Ballet and the audience enjoyed a good laugh over the dance by the Inflatable Santas, pictured above.For more photos, see page 10.

Antrim Scholars Induct Inaugural Class

CENTRAL LAKE – Antrim Scholars, a new initiative from Antrim Women’s Alliance, dedicated to supporting high-achieving, income-qualified students gain college access, inducted five Central Lake High School students into its inaugural class during a special evening at the Blue Pelican. The five students, all juniors, are Emma Wiltse, Aspen Evans, Grant Miller, Savannah Duff and Evelyn Keast.
Antrim Scholars provides comprehensive college prep support including college knowledge workshops, personalized one-on-one mentorship, SAT preparation, college selection and application, and college visits - all designed to equip Scholars with skills to survive and thrive in college. These services are customized and are offered at no cost to the students. Scholars are inducted in their junior year of high school and the program follows them to and through college. The program is slated to expand to include other Antrim County high schools in the future.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in downtown Bellaire Saturday night, all spiffed up in a brightly lighted sleigh and eager to greet everybody celebrating Bellaire’s annual Light Up the Night event sponsored by the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce.

Festival of Trees • November 8-16

KALKASKA — The 2024 Kalkaska Area Interfaith Resources (K.A.I.R.) Festival of Trees is taking place once again, beginning on Nov. 8 and running through Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at Northland Plaza in Kalkaska.
The annual festival brings beautifully decorated trees and a multitude of raffle prizes to the plaza and is KAIR’s largest financial fundraising event with all proceeds benefitting the local volunteer organization that provides assistance to any qualified elderly, frail, disabled, isolated or needy residents of Kalkaska County. A virtual drawing for the winning entries will occur online on Sunday, Nov. 17 at noon. Visit Kalkaska Festival of Trees on FaceBook for the live drawing.

Lancers, Elks and a Blazer run at cross country state finals

Both boys’ and girls’ Central Lake-Ellsworth cross country teams qualified at regionals and competed at the MHSAA State Finals held Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.

The MHSAA Cross Country State Finals were held on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, with all four division running at a pre-determined time.
In Division 4 finals the Lancer boys came in at number 26 as a team with Khadar Jones leading at number 70 (17:31.3) followed by the next four Lancer finishers of Cole Abney (141st-18:29), Zander Chellis (174th-18:50), Andrew Michanowicz (242nd-22:31.3) and Roman Windish (245th- 22:57.2), also finishing the run were Max Muladore (250th-26:23) and Joshua Woollard (252nd-31:28.8).
