Thanks to our supporters for blessing thousands of Christian believers in US prisons in 2024. We are looking forward to another year of serving those who desire to grow in their faith.

We also remember those who have given to Lighthouse in other ways. In our most recent newsletter, we remember Pastor Jimmy, and all that he did for us and for thousands of prison inmates during his time of service at Lighthouse Publishing.

Issue 53 is in the wild! We appreciated the group of volunteers from Rehrersburg Mennonite Church in Bethel, PA who helped us process the bulk packages last week. The shipment was delivered to the USPS on Monday, and the single copy pre-sort mailing went out today.

This mailing included 68,616 magazines sent in bulk, and 1,651 single copies. This project cost $30,953.71 to print and ship, for an average cost of 40 cents per magazine.

We are readying Loaves & Fishes #53, our third issue of the year, for print! The theme of this issue is Christian Discipleship. We will discuss what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, and the idea of helping others to become followers as well.

To meet our goal of shipping this issue around the end of September, we expect a total project cost of around $30,000. Below is a heartfelt poem by one of our readers, to be published in the next issue of Loaves & Fishes. As you read it, keep in mind the beautiful words of Isaiah:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound."

Breaking Chains

Carrying a heart filled with anger and guilt,
The time has come to break the wall that I built.
Finding my faith will give me much relief,
Knowing God will accept me even with my grief.

Breaking myself free from the devil's chains,
I must let go of all my past pains.
Confessing my sins to the Man above,
For that reason, He still shows me love.

It feels like a weight lifted from my shoulders
As I'm starting to become one of His beholders.
Feeling God's presence the more I engage
Helps me to be free from my demons’ rage.

Getting stronger everyday with God as my mate,
Deep down inside it's always been my fate.
Fighting the Devil even in my dream;
He's filled with hate ‘cause I choose God's team.

My name is Rafael Andrées Soto. I am currently serving my first term in prison. I am in reception right now, waiting to be shipped out to my next destination. I gave my life over to God about in 2019. But when Ccovid-19 was in full effect, it interrupted me from going to church.

After about a year, I got caught up in my old ways. I guess a lot of my friends at that time didn't go to church. I met a brother of mine here in reception. That got me and brought me back to Jesus Christ.

I was going down the wrong path, but I've been saved. I gave myself over to Jesus Christ. I plan on making the right choices for my life. I have a son and a family that loves me waiting at home.

It's time for an update from Lighthouse Publishing! We have just sent out our latest print newsletter. Read it online at the link below.

We're excited to announce that Loaves & Fishes issue 50 is now in graphic design. Thanks so much for your support. We expect a printing cost of between $20-23,000, which I'm happy to say is fully funded.

We are trusting the Lord for around $8,000 in additional funds for postage by mid-December in order to get our third issue of the year out on schedule.

Too Small to Matter? If you are like me, there are times you wonder if what you do each day makes any difference in this world. For example, I can do a great job mowing the lawn, but the grass just keeps growing. If I paid all the bills this morning, by tonight more will
