CUSSING CUTS TIES

We all know that Peter denied Jesus. We know that while Jesus was being arrested and tried that Peter denied him the first time, saying that he didn’t know Him

The second time again, I imagine it was with much more fervor that Peter denied Jesus because he was increasingly scared of what might happen to him.

The third time, the Bible says in Matthew 26:74 that Peter began to CURSE and SWEAR that he didn’t know Him. At that exact moment, the prophecy Jesus gave was fulfilled. The book of Matthew goes on to say that Peter wept bitterly.

Peter wanted everyone there accusing him of knowing Jesus to back off and so he did the thing that nobody would expect from a follower of Jesus — he cursed and swore.

How many times today do we find ourselves excusing inappropriate language from ourselves, our kids? Now, before you get mad, God has put this on my mind for DAYS to write. ✍️ This includes me! Don’t think there aren’t times I don’t slip and momentarily find myself in the old me.

The point is, we disassociate ourselves as children of God when we curse and swear. Even in the Old Testament, God says, “ I will bless those who bless thee and curse those who curse thee.” The Hebrew word for bless is בָּרַךְ Barak meaning “to bless oneself”. (Maybe not speaking down on yourself all the time? Ouch 🤕 And curse there is קָלַל qalal which more or less means to belittle. God is ALWAYS true on His Word.

Wether cursing is in the context of speaking down on ourselves or in the form of 4 letter words, we know that it isn’t Biblical, yet we tippy toe around it so we don’t hurt feelings.

It’s time to end that idea that we can curse and still be in line with what God wants from us.
We’re in a generation that wants to clean up God’s Word and send it back for a re-write.

You’re in or you’re out. If you want to disassociate yourself from Christ and the church, that’s you, but I won’t allow my mouth to be the reason someone says, “nah, I’m good.” When it comes time to invite them to church

I’m not sorry that my post reached you and triggered you so badly. I think back to when I was exactly like this. I’m not angry, I’m broken for his soul. I hate that he blocked me before I got the opportunity to speak to him. This is your sign that you will be opposed when you spread the word of God.
Pray for this guy. Him and people like him (like me!) are the reason this ministry was started. 🤍

I heard a message today that I felt I should pass on. In Luke chapter 2, we see that the angel of the Lord appears to the shepherds, watching their field by night we know that the Shepherds immediately went to see Jesus but what happened to the sheep that they were watching?

In Matthew 18 we hear about a man that has left the 99 sheep to find the one that was lost. We often say that’s Jesus that He would leave the crowd to seek after us the one that was lost, but I challenge you to look at that in a new way.

The Shepherds left their sheep to seek The One.
Not the one who was lost, but The One who overcome death, hell and the grave.

They left the 99 to seek The One who could save them. They left the 99 to seek after The One called Emmanuel, God with us.

If we could get it in our head that we need to leave our 99 problems, and seek after the one who has never lost a battle how much better would we be?
