“Here’s the latest from 12News Meteorlogist Jeremiah Stewart on what is likely to be a historic winter storm for our area. A potentially historic winter storm is setting up for Southeast Texas and much of Southern Louisiana beginning tonight with impacts stretching into the latter part of the week.

Light snow showers are possible as early as 9:00 PM this evening, mainly along that HWY 190 corridor towards Woodville, Jasper, and Newton areas.

Late tonight into early tomorrow morning, periods of moderate to heavy snow will begin filling into all of Southeast Texas.

3-5” with isolated totals of 6”+ is possible here in the triangle and eastward along I-10 off toward Lake Charles.

Lighter accumulations are expected for our northern counties where air is slightly drier— 1-3” totals will be common for the Lakes Area including places like Jasper, Newton, and Burkeville.

Here’s what the City of Beaumont is doing to make sure our residents are safe.

The City of Beaumont Texas Office of Emergency Management is coordinating efforts with local agencies to make sure our unhoused population and their pets are safe and warm with the approaching freeze.
👉The Some Other Place and The Salvation Army of Jefferson County, Texas will provide 24-hour service at their shelters.
👉The City of Beaumont - Government will run transit buses throughout the night as warming stations and free transportation to area shelters.
👉Pastor Eric Ardoin of Warm Hands Warm Hearts Church is offering an overflow shelter.
👉Beaumont Street Pets secured Veterinarian Dr Read Arden at Animal Medical And Surgical Hospital who is opening his building to care for the pets of those who stay at the Salvation Army overnight.
👉Beaumont Animal Care has coordinated efforts to get foster families to ensure no animals are housed outside.
