If you’re taking a beach trip this year, there are five shots in this video that can make your video more interesting.
1) Rotating your camera is a great way to create a bit of dynamic action to an otherwise stagnant shot. Yes, it’s a beautiful setting, but movement will keep attention.
2) Mix in some scenery shots to establish the setting. The flag gives motion, shows what the water is like, and looks interesting.
3) Get on the level of what you’re shooting. The close up of the Blue Heron was done in a squat position. By getting on the level of what you’re shooting, you’ll see more of your subject.
4) Don’t be afraid of the water! A plastic bag is really all you need to take your phone with you in the water. They also sell waterproof bags to put your phone in if you’re a little unsure of trusting a standard plastic bag.
5) Flip your phone upside down when you’re shooting the waves and get the phone as low to the ground as possible. That shot of the waves crashing into your camera is always a fun way to end a beach video, or use as a transition to a new scene.

How do you shoot video on a moving boat? A gimbal! A gimbal uses sensors and motors to stabilize and support your camera, doing what a tripod usually would if you were staying in one location or taking a photo.
This is our second year shooting the installation of an artificial reef. This one is located off the coast near Cypremort Point. It is one part of the many projects that help keep our coast and the aquatic life healthy.
We were hired by Hometown Productions to execute this shoot. We love working with agencies and other production houses, so if you need a hired gun to help you out with a shoot, give us a buzz!
