Happy 79th Birthday to John McVie! The “Mac” in Fleetwood Mac, John has had a storied career and is one of the few original members to still be in the band over 50 years later. He even met Christine McVie through touring with Fleetwood Mac, eventually marrying her and convincing her to join the band also. John began playing the bass at age 14. He had his first paid gigs playing weddings and parties with the local band The Krewsaders in Ealing, West London. He is known today as one of the greatest bass players of all time, having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. He currently resides in Brentwood, CA along with his wife of over 40 years, Julie Ann Reubens.

Today we remember Peter Green, the man who started it all, who would have been 77 today. Though he left Fleetwood Mac after only 3 years, and before they experienced the height of their success, he still left the band with multiple classics, such as “Albatross”, “Black Magic Woman”, and “Man of the World”.

Despite his early departure from the band, he is remembered as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and left a legacy of raw talent that all guitarists look up to. Take some time to remember Peter today, and let us know in the comments which of his songs impacted you the most.

Did you know?

During the recording of Tusk, Fleetwood Mac experimented with lots of found sounds. They purchased a leg of lamb from the butcher and hit the food with a spatula for a desired percussive effect. Additional noises they experimented with included animal sounds, whips, bottles clinking, and screams.

Ultimately, the band recruited the USC’s Trojan Marching Band to play on the single. The recording had to happen using shotgun microphones as the hundred and twelve members of the band needed to march while playing for the purpose of timekeeping.

Come experience Tusk, along with your favorite classics, live with us in Savannah on Friday and Atlanta on Saturday.

Our thoughts are with all of our Western North Carolina fans, friends, and family during this time. The devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Helene is going to take months of cleanup and recovery so we here in Rumours ATL would like to help in any way we can.

We have a few shows coming up where you can donate the following items:
Blankets
Sweaters/hoodies
Toiletries
Diapers (any size. must be in package)
Wash cloths and towels
Non perishable food items
Menstrual products
Baby formula
Baby wipes
Cases of bottled water
Hand sanitizer
First aid kits

Cards and letters for encouragement are also welcomed and highly encouraged!

We will be collecting at the following shows:
