Music Matters Entertainment Booking Agency/Promoter/Providing quality live music for any event Bruce Hampton, Dan Toler, Kofi Burbridge, and many others. Most agents are men.

Music Matters Entertainment (MME) has worked with the top echelon of musicians, promoters, corporations and venues over the years, having booked tours for bands for many years. MME had the great pleasure of booking and/or managing Wet Willie, Jimmy Hall, Tommy Talton, Cowboy, Diane Durrett, Soulhound, Lingo and others, and promoted concerts that included not only its artists but other great musi

cians, such as Mother's Finest, Chuck Leavell, Randall Bramblett, Bonnie Bramblett, Paul Hornsby, Col. Music Matters Entertainment founder Terry Reeves retired from booking and managing artists in 2013 to care for ill family members. However, she continued to buy talent for select events in the Atlanta area, as well as promoting benefit concerts from time to time for musicians with whom she had worked until 2016. While off the road and no longer booking tours, Music Matters Entertainment promotes local concerts occasionally for former musicians, and books and promotes a local concert series in Rutledge, GA. TESTIMONIALS

Part of my history in the music business includes being a booking agent for seven years, so I have an idea of what it takes to be a good agent. You need not only to be a good salesperson, but be a good debt collector, extremely organized, love music and musicians, have plenty of patience, be honest, be able to catch phone calls in the middle of the night, be capable of standing up to the tough guys, know how to spot the cons, and be a good babysitter and nurse maid. I tried training and teaching several women as agents and failed. Most could not handle the pressure or fell in love or heat with the musicians. Terry Reeves is an exception to the rule. She is such a great agent that I tried to convince her to go national with her company. She was smart and kept her stable to a small number of bands and artists in order to do the job thoroughly rather than signing as many as she could and do a so so job. She has a great personality and is a sincere friend to those who are fair with her. In the past I recommended her to dozens of new bands and will continue to do so for as long as she is in the music business in whatever capacity she decides to undertake. She is definitely a Friend of mine. Alan Walden

Long time Music Matters Entertainment client Diane Durrett releases her new album "Sweet Georgia Blues" today. Please give it a listen, and consider adding it to your playlist or downloading on all streaming platforms now, or at dianedurrett.com . There's a reason she's known as the Blue-eyed Soulstress. She's phenomenal! We've heard this album, and it's a must have. Congratulations, Diane!

Wonderful article and obituary for Tommy Talton . Thank you Phil Kloer and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for doing such a thorough, fabulous job.
https://www.ajc.com/news/obituaries/noted-rock-guitarist-tommy-talton-dies-at-74/ZXA74FK2XJANBKFNSMZESG544M/

Rock musician Tommy Talton, who died at his home in Marietta, Ga., honed his slide guitar licks jamming with Duane Allman, was a collaborator with Athens musician Randall Bramlett and lived the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle with the Capricorn Records music crew in Macon in the 1970s.

01/02/2024

As many of you have no doubt heard by now, legendary guitarist and singer-songwriter, Tommy Talton, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 28th, 2023, with his loving wife by his side. We are deeply saddened by his passing. Tommy was not only one of our long-time artists, he was a very close friend.

Tommy was a leading Music Matters Entertainment (MME) artist. For nearly twenty (20) years, MME booked and managed Tommy, as well as provided road management assistance at times. He headlined numerous tours, songwriter festivals, various Southern Rock Super Jams produced by MME, as well as performed as a special guest with acts such as The Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, Government Mule and Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Chuck Leavell, Randall Bramblett and many others. He was an integral part of the Music Matters Entertainment family. While on its roster, Tommy released several solo albums, both studio and live.

Tommy was a founding member of the band Cowboy, along with his musical and songwriting partner, Scott Boyer. In the 1970s. Cowboy rose to fame as the Rhythm Section and opening band for Gregg Allman on his 1974 tour in support of Gregg’s newly released “Laid Back” album. That tour was highly successful, selling out venues all across the country, and resulted in a best-selling album, the “Gregg Allman Tour with Special Guests Cowboy Boyer & Talton.” During that time, Tommy released numerous albums by Cowboy on the Capricorn records label, and many solo studio and live albums.

In 2010, Cowboy reunited and worked with Music Matters Entertainment in booking a sold out Cowboy Reunion Show in Macon. Thereafter, Tommy and Scott continued to perform together both as Cowboy and as a duo, as well as with the Tommy Talton band and others.

The loss of Tommy Talton is far-reaching, and felt worldwide in the music community and beyond, and the impact on our agency is profound. We are heartbroken by the loss of an amazingly gifted artist, and truly beautiful person and friend.

Please keep Tommy's wife, Patty, and his three daughters, Kathleen, Chrissy and Corrina, in your thoughts and prayers. Please respect their privacy during this difficult time. For personal condolences, please contact Tommy's daughters. If you would like to make a donation which will help with his medical and final expenses, a GoFundMe account is in place by daughter Kathleen Gondek, and has now been updated:
https://gofund.me/6ccdacc5

We are working closely with Tommy's family in organizing a celebration of Tommy's life, which will be held on Sunday, January 28th, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Location and other details will be announced soon on our social media platforms, as well as press releases. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org .

Our deepest condolences and love are with Patty, Tommy's daughters, and the entire Talton family. Tommy will be sorely missed, while his legacy and music live on in our hearts, souls and minds.

For any information concerning the celebration of life or for press inquiries, please contact Terry Reeves at [email protected] or 404-734-6168.

“When I got the news you had left and moved on
To where all of the pains of this long ride were gone
My breath went away, lost like a friend
But, when the time is just right I hope to see you again.”

This is a beautiful song penned by Tommy Talton and recorded by his band Cowboy in the '70s. Here is an acoustic version recorded with his trio years ago at the Crimson Moon listening room. Stay with it - it's simply beautiful and the dynamics are incredible (not to mention the lyrics and guitar work).

There are a few VIP tickets left for the Tommy Talton Benefit Concert on Sunday at Music On Main Street in Lilburn, GA, and GA tickets. If you can't attend, there's a link to make a donation. More info and tickets: http://gracenotefoundation.org/phone/events.html

Another great article on the Rutledge, GA Summer Concert Series by Tia Lynn Ivey and Morgan County Citizen . This week, international blues touring musician and recording artist m, and Middle Georgia native, EG Kight , a/k/a the Georgia Songbird, brings her beautiful voice, songs and guitar licks, along with her trio, to Rutledge. She was one of my Dad's favorite vocalists; she happens to be one of mine too. It's a free concert from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Gazebo Stage in downtown Rutledge on Friday. I hope to see some of you there!
EG Kight at Rutledge Summer Concert Series on 8/11/23

From Morgan County Citizen:
Don’t miss the next installment of the free Rutledge Summer Concert series featuring a globe-trotting touring artist returning to gazebo stage for a special concert. Crooner EG Kight will give a free concert in Rutledge’s Town Park on Friday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m.

“We are thrilled to have EG Kight return to Rutledge. EG has toured all over the world, has won numerous Awards, recorded and shared the stage with so many well-known musicians, and we feel blessed that she chooses to play Rutledge year after year,” said Terry Reeves, one of the event organizers. “Her voice is as sweet as honey, and is so beautiful and captivating, she doesn’t fit in any genre, or she fits in all genres. She’s also an incredible singer-songwriter and guitarist.”

According to Kight’s bio, “In addition to her musical talent, she was born and raised in Georgia, and has many Southern Tales to tell. She has played in Rutledge every year for the past few years, and anyone who has seen her will agree that you don’t want to miss this night of music in the park. Class, with a Southern drawl. That’s the first thing you notice when you meet EG Kight. When EG played as a trio recently it seemed to be the perfect recipe for a wonderful night. Tight harmonies, first class musicianship and a voice you just don’t hear very often. The standing ovations EG received just confirmed what I already knew. The EG Kight Trio is a totally professional band that demands your attention and delivers each and every time.” — Mike Dougher, Songbirds Guitar Museum, Chattanooga, TN.
