Here’s one that only someone my age and older can an answer.
Have you ever had the “giddy” feeling for weeks before you turned sixty, and then after you get there, you feel wonderful about it just because you made it, but more often than not, you remember how much pain that you’re in every day, but you KNOW that you are still BLESSED! just because you are on the warm side of the dirt and still able to walk around and breathe?

P.S. Yeah, I ramble 😒😃🤓😭

Met a cool couple when I saw a Skoolie in the wild this morning.

Skoolie in the wild, just North of Domino, TX.
Unfortunately I accidentally woke them up.
She is Sam and he is Kelly.
I believe she said the name of the bus is Gwendolyn, but it may have been Gweneviere(so).
I am ashamed to say that I’m not super good with names.
I’m not saying where the said they were headed, for their privacy, but if you happen to see them,(the bus that is) make sure to stop by and say hello!

It just ain’t supposed to be this damned cold for this damned long in NE Texas!
12F degrees! That should be illegal or something, shouldn’t it?
Tomorrow it’s calling for a heat wave(Thank God!), looking for the temperature to get into the mid 30’s to lower 40’s.

My latest Skoolie adventure started yesterday at around seven am.
I drove three hours to the Dallas are to help out a friend and fellow Skoolie.
It didn’t go well I’m sad to say.
Anyway, driving back home in the dark, cold because my heater (bus heater) doesn’t work and I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to drive with my cook stove burners going.
I just believe that is BEGGING for trouble.
Anyway, I wound up stopping at Sulphuric Springs because I was starting to get the nods.
I figured that I’d take a couple of hours nap.
That was at ten thirty last night.
I woke back up at five thirty am this morning.
I got almost all the way home.
I’m talking thirteen miles away.
My bus just up and died, showing me a water/oil light.
And to make matters worse, I was in an ABSOLUTE DEAD ZONE as far as phone service goes.
I don’t mind telling you that scarf the Hell out of me considering the friend that I went to try and help out has a blown head gasket.
So I checked my water and I couldn’t feel it with my finger.
Luckily I was able to get hold of another Skoolie friend who lives about a mile from me.
He came and took me into town to get some oil.
I added a gallon and a half of water.
I checked the oil.
It really looked good to me and I LITERALLY just hand all the oil and oil filters.
It was around two quarts low.
I went ahead and added a full gallon just to be on the safe side.
None of this helped.
The fuel gauge doesn’t work properly (along with most of the gauges).
My friend asked if I could be out of fuel.
I really didn’t think that I could be as I was under the impression that I had a sixty five gallon tank.(I don’t(it’s actually closer to forty gallons(ask me how I know))).
So anyway, I had about three gallons of diesel from my diesel heater and I dumped it in the tank.
Then I used the manual pump to try and get some fuel in my filter. No joy.
My friend took me back to the closest diesel and I got another five gallons.
Pumped some more. Cranked some more.
Viola! It started, and started filling the filter and started running well again.
I got back to my town and took it to the fuel station to top it off.
Lesson learned!
I’m posting this so that others might learn from my mistake and maybe even have a little chuckle at my expense.

"Newborn at home so the dog has to go".

For those who give up their dogs when they have a baby, I'm posting this photo of a family whose 15-year-old Jack Russell Terrier is treated as one of the children (because he was their first child) and who is the protector of his two human brothers and sisters.

Never use the excuse that you had to let your dog go, and never abandon your pets. They are family 😍

This wild Kingfisher's grandparent, I found in the garden, nearly dead, some years ago. Nursed him back to health, and set him free. The next morning, the family swooped down, past me, in gratitude.
A couple of years later, I awoke to find the next generation, a parent of this bird, waiting for me on the terrace, his wing seemed broken. I picked him up and examined him. He never flinched, and stared deeply into my eyes. A thorn had locked his wing from operating. I pulled it out, and set him free. Without fail, he passes my window every day at the same time, crying out to me.
This baby, sat in the tree, eye to eye with me, then flew directly to my hand, and sat there for several minutes, before flying away.
Intuition, compassion, good intent, those essences of love, was all we had. Pure, unspoken.
An energy that has no end, and passes silently onward, much further than we can imagine..

I think it’s time to put on my warmest socks and wait till around noon for the sun be at it’s peak to get my bus warm and I can turn off my propane .

I spent a chilly night in the bus last night.
I couldn’t seem to get my Chinese diesel heater to fire up.
I’m hoping that some of my Skoolie friends at Skooliepalooza South will be able to help me to figure out what the problem is.

DEAR WALMART, HOME DEPOT AND ALL OTHER STORES THAT HAVE SELF CHECKOUT!
You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now.
Yesterday I was at Walmart , the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left.
I heard her saying "umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.
• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.
• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.
• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.
YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.
YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU.
