man identified as one of three soldiers killed in Sunday drone attack in Jordan.

The Department of Defense on Monday confirmed the death of a Carrollton man – who was one of three Army Reserve soldiers killed by a drone attack - while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

All three of those fatally injured called the Peach State home. 46-year old Sgt. William Jerome Rivers of Carrollton; 24-year old Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders of Waycross, Ga.; and 23-year Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett of Savannah, Ga., died Jan. 28, 2024, in Jordan, when a one-way unmanned aerial system (OWUAS) impacted their container housing units.

Rivers, Sanders and Moffett were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Fort Moore, Ga.

U.S. Central Command confirmed that at least 34 were injured. Eight of the wounded service members were evacuated — some were in critical condition but all were stable.

The killed and injured troops were in their sleeping quarters on the base when the drone strike took place at an outpost known as Tower 22, where roughly 350 U.S. Army and Air Force personnel are deployed, according to the Department of Defense.

The strike was believed to be the deadliest attack on U.S. service members since 3 Americans were killed in a su***de bombing in Kabul as the U.S. pulled out of Afghanistan in 2021.

The incident is under investigation.
