James Earl Jones Signed Over Voice Rights to Disney for Darth Vader Prior to PassingIn a move that ensures the iconic voice of Darth Vader will live on, legendary actor James Earl Jones signed over the rights to his voice for the character to Disney before his passing.According to sources, Jones, who voiced the iconic villain in the Star Wars franchise, entered into an agreement with Disney to allow the company to use his voice recordings, likeness, and vocal style for future Darth Vader appearances.
The process, known as voice preservation, involves:
1. *Voice recording sessions*: Jones recorded extensive vocal takes of various Darth Vader lines, phrases, and sounds.
2. *Vocal style analysis*: Disney''s sound engineers studied Jones'' vocal delivery, tone, and cadence to create a digital signature.
3. *AI-powered voice synthesis*: The recorded voices and digital signature will be used to create a synthetic voice model, allowing Disney to generate new dialogue and performances.
This innovative approach ensures that Darth Vader''s iconic voice will continue to be heard in Star Wars content, from films to video games, while respecting Jones'' legacy and contribution to the franchise.
REST IN PEACE, JAMES EARL JONES

Mamie Johnson was born on September 27, 1935. When she was only seven years old, she would play baseball every day. At 17 years old, Ms. Johnson was rejected as a team member by the white Female Baseball League. This unfair treatment and prejudice became her own victory. She proclaimed, If I had played with white girls, I would have been just another player, but now I am somebody who has done something that no other woman has done.In 1953, at the age of 19, she became a member of the Indianapolis Clowns baseball club and pitched for three years. That same year, Johnson finished with an 11-3 record. In 1954, she went 10-1, and in 1955, she finished 12-4. She hit between .252 and .284 in each season. When she wasn’t pitching, she played second base. During her tenure, she won 33 games and lost 8 games. Her batting average ranged from .262 to .284. Of this opportunity, she exclaimed, Just to know that you were among some of the best male ballplayers that ever picked up the bat, made all of my baseball moments great moments. For two seasons as a member of the Clowns, Johnson was a teammate of future home run leader Hank Aaron. She also credits her pitching success to a lesson she learned from “Satchel” Paige who taught Johnson to throw her curveball. “He just showed me how to grip the ball to keep from throwing my arm away, ‘cause I was so little.”“Peanut” Johnson was one of three women, and the first female pitcher, to play in the Negro Leagues. She was a licensed nurse for 30 years after her baseball playing days. Mamie Johnson died on December 18, 2017, in a Washington, D.C.

He won 11 championships in only 13 seasons of professional basketball. Any questions on who's the real G.O.A.T. in sports History? William “Bill” Felton Russell born February 12, 1934. He played as a center for the Boston Celtics of NBA from 1956 to 1969. A five-time NBA Most Valuable Player and a 12-time All-Star, he was the centerpiece of the Celtics dynasty.
Although Bill Russell never averaged more than 19.0 points per game in any season, many regard him to be among the greatest basketball players of all time for his dominating defensive play. He led the NBA in rebounds four times, had a dozen consecutive seasons of 1,000 or more rebounds, and remains second all-time in both total rebounds and rebounds per game. He is one of just two NBA players (the other being prominent rival Wilt Chamberlain) to have grabbed more than 50 rebounds in a game.
Russell was the first black player to achieve superstar status in the NBA. He also served a three-season (1966–69) stint as player-coach for the Celtics, becoming the first black coach in North American professional sports and the first to win a championship.
He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He was selected into the NBA 25th Anniversary Team in 1971 and the NBA 35th Anniversary Team in 1980, and named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996, one of only four players to receive all three honors. In 2007, he was enshrined in the FIBA Hall of Fame. In Russell's honor, the NBA renamed the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player trophy in 2009: it is now the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award.
In 2011, Barack Obama awarded Russell the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his accomplishments on the court and in the Civil Rights Movement. In 1959, Russell was the first NBA player to visit Africa and he was active in the Black Power movement and supported Muhammad Ali's decision to refuse to be drafted.
In 2021, Russell was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame for his coaching career. In the same year, Russell was honored as one of the league’s greatest players of all-time by being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

February 9, 1906: Paul Laurence Dunbar died from Tuberculosis at the age of 33. He was interred in the Woodland Cemetery in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio.Paul Laurence Dunbar was a poet, novelist, and playwright of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Much of his popular work in his lifetime used a Negro dialect, which helped him become one of the 1st nationally-accepted African-American writers. Much of his writing, however, does not use dialect; these more traditional poems have become of greater interest to scholars.LEGACY:🎭Dunbar became the 1st African-American poet to earn nation-wide distinction and acceptance. The New York Times called him a true singer of the people — white or Black.
🎭In his preface to The Book of American Negro Poetry (1931) writer and activist James Weldon Johnson criticized Dunbar''''s dialect poems for fostering stereotypes of Blacks people as comical or pathetic and reinforcing the restriction that Black people only write scenes of plantation life.
🎭Writer Maya Angelou called her autobiographical book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969) after a line from Dunbar''''s poem Sympathy at the suggestion of jazz musician and activist Abbey Lincoln.
🎭Angelou named Dunbar an inspiration for her writing ambition and uses his imagery of a caged bird like a chained slave throughout much of her writings.
🎭In 2002, Molefi Kete Asante listed Paul Laurence Dunbar on his list of 100 Greatest African Americans.
🎭Dunbar''''s vaudeville song Who Dat Say Chicken in Dis Crowd influenced the development of Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say gonna beat dem Saints?, the New Orleans Saints'''' chant.

American sculptor, artist, and photographer, known particularly for her 1960s busts entitled Negro Giants in History was born in Portsmouth, VA, on this date in 1914.
Her 1983 collection called Our Folks, which features sculpted portraits of everyday people, is also of note. Hardison's artistic productions largely surround historical black portraiture, and she is especially interested in creatively representing the unspoken voices of the Black American past. She was the only female in the Black Academy of Arts and Letters (BAAL), a group that encourages awareness of Black artistic accomplishments, when this organization was founded in 1969.
Her family later moved to Brooklyn, New York. Before completing her education, Hardison acted in the Broadway Productions of George Abbott’s “Sweet River” and “Country Wife,” opposite Ruth Gordon. During her brief career in the theater, she began sculpting as a hobby. When she took part in the yearlong “What A Life” production, she even created a sculpture of its cast, later displayed at the Mansfield Theatre.
As a young woman, she studied music and creative writing at Vassar College. She also studied at the Art Students League of New York and Tennessee State University. Hardison's works largely begin as clay, wax, or plaster molds, and are later cast into cast stone or bronze. Hardison began “Negro Giants in History” a series of cast iron busts in 1963.
Her first bust in that series was of Harriet Tubman, which measured eight inches in height; she has also created busts of W. E. B. Du Bois, Paul Robeson, George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Sojourner Truth, and Mary McCleod Bethune, among others. Her bronze Douglass bust, for example, was unveiled at Princeton’s Firestone Library in 1983.
Other public works include a 7-foot abstract figure called Jubilee which stands on the campus of Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, a series of 18 children on an outdoor wall of I.S.74 in Hunts Point in the Bronx, and a five-foot mother and Child given to Mount Sinai Hospital in 1957 in gratitude for their help in delivering her only child, Yolande, in 1954. She also created a series of Ingenious Americans, little known black inventors and other notables commissioned and sold by Old Taylor Whiskey in the late 1960s.
The series of nine busts included Benjamin Banneker, Charles Richard Drew, Matthew Henson, Frederick McKinley Jones, Lewis Latimer, Garrett Morgan, Norbert Rillieux, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams and Granville Woods. At auctions, her sculptures have earned more than $1300 apiece. In 1990 New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo presented Hardison’s 1990 two-foot sculpture of Sojourner Truth to Nelson Mandela on behalf of the people of New York State. Reflecting on her work, Hardison once said: “During my long life I have enjoyed using different ways to distill the essences of my experiences so as to share for the good they might do in the lives of others.”

𝗘𝗗𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗜𝗨𝗦 (1829-1880)

Edmond Albius was born a slave in 1829, in St. Suzanne, on the island Réunion. His mother died during childbirth, and he never knew his father. In his youth he was sent to work for Botanist Fereol Bellier-Beaumont.

The vanilla plant was flourishing in Mexico, and by the late 18th century, a few plants were sent to Paris, London, Europe and Asia, in hopes of producing the bean in other areas. Although the vine would grow and flower, it would not produce any beans. French colonists brought vanilla beans to Réunion around 1820.

Beaumont had been teaching young Edmond how to tend to the various plants on his estate. He taught him how to hand-pollinate a watermelon plant. Beaumont had previously planted vanilla beans, and had just one vine growing for over twenty years, but was also unable to produce any beans on the vine. Young Edmond began to study the plant and made a discovery. He carefully probed the plant and found the part of the flower that produced the pollen. Edmond then discovered the stigma, the part of the plant that needed to be dusted with the pollen to produce the bean. He used a blade of grass to separate the two flaps and properly fertilized the plant.

Shortly afterwards, while walking through the gardens, Beaumont noticed two packs of vanilla beans flourishing on the vine and was astonished when young Edmond told him that he was responsible for the pollination. Edmond was twelve years old at the time. Beaumont wrote to other plantation owners to tell them his slave Edmond had solved the vanilla bean pollination mystery. He then sent Edmond to other local plantations to teach other slaves how to fertilize the vanilla vine. Within the next twenty to thirty years, Réunion became the world’s largest producer of vanilla beans.

Edmond was rewarded with his freedom, and was given the last name Albius. Beaumont wrote to the governor, asking that Albius be given a cash stipend for his role in the discovery of the fertilization, but received no response. Albius moved to St. Denis and worked as a kitchen servant. He somehow got involved in a jewelry heist and was sentenced to ten years. Beaumont again wrote the governor on his behalf, and the sentence was commuted to five years, and Albius was subsequently released. A man named Jean Michel Claude Richard then set claim to have discovered the fertilization process before Albius. He claimed he visited the island in 1838, and taught a group of horticulturists the technique. Again, Beaumont stepped in and wrote to Réunion’s official historian declaring Albius as the true inventor, giving him all of the credit entirely. The letter survives as part of island history.

Albius returned to live close to Beaumont’s plantation and married. He died on August 9, 1880 at the age of 51 at a hospital in Sainte Suzanne. He never received any profits from his discovery. One hundred years after his death, the mayor of Réunion made amends by erecting a statue of Albius and naming a street and school after him.
