Congratulations to our friends at Swamp Fox P-51! Job well done!!!
The P-51D Mustang underwent a complete restoration from 2007 to 2012. The restoration was managed by Jeff Harris at Allied Fighters in Chino, California with Mike Breshears of Vintage Airframes in Caldwell, ID doing a majority of the work.

I need to brag on my neighbor Austin Ford-Umfuhrer. Last week when I was buried in my airplane, he offered to run some tools down to the airfield. A few minutes later, he showed up (in a 172) and not only brought the tools, but put his skills as an A&P/IA to work. He’s one of those young gun - pilot/mechanic/CFI’s not only working on warbirds, but all kinds of GA stuff. Austin is also still serving in the reserves, and working on some of the coolest flying machines around. Did I mention, he’s on the leadership team of our local EAA Chapter 976 - West Georgia, and just finished the leadership academy this weekend?!? By this December he’ll have all his necessary flying hours, and some lucky flight department is going to get one helluva a hard working man. I just hope he doesn’t move too far away. Thank you for the help Austin, but most of all - the friendship!

Keep ‘em’ flying…and swing in’!
B-25 Panchito is based in Sussex County Delaware, and is a source of pride locally.
A “Bombers” baseball league was formed some years ago. Once a year, all the kids and families come to visit and see their namesake.
They seem to like Panchito, and we REALLY like every one of them. We salute their parents for supporting each of them.
WAY TO GO BOMBERS!!!

What a view!
Three B-17G Flying Fortresses outside enjoying the sun today at The Warbird Shop in Madras, Oregon. "Thunderbird", "Ye' Ole Pub" and "Yankee Lady". All three were sold by Platinum Fighter Sales. We recently had a chance to see the B-17 wing spar replacement program at The Warbird Shop and it is one one of the most impressive feats of engineering I've seen in warbirds. It will extend the flying lives of B-17's for generations to come.

Great work from Mid America Flight Museum!
A quick update on our B-17G
“We the People”
It has been rolled out into the sun as they prep to strip the paint on the fuselage. A few corrosion issues to deal with as we get closer to wings going back on in this coming year.
The Warbird Shop in Madras, OR is quickly becoming a B-17 hot spot.
It will be our plan to polish the fuselage as a good match to our B-25 “God and Country”.
Belly Turret removed for ease of moving around. We promise it’ll be reinstalled.
Great things happening in Oregon.

The History Worth Saving Podcast
HISTORY WORTH SAVING - Here’s the story...the whole story. In 2009 I left television news and started an internet radio station devoted to telling the stories of our Airmen past and present. For the next ten years WarbirdRadio.com told amazing stories of the men and women who truly helped save the world. In 2015 and 2016, Warbird Radio was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association and had well over 1 million listens from fans around the world. In May of 2020, two months into the COVID19 pandemic crisis, WarbirdRadio.com experienced a catastrophic data loss that was beyond our control and sadly beyond any practical repair. For me, the loss was a “hand of God” moment - a strong push to begin the next chapter.
The previous two years I’d been living in the Middle East, quietly uploading shows across two VPN’s while trying to work around a strict authoritarian government. My time over there made me love my American home even more. One night while reading through the days news, I discovered a story about a study from the Pew Research Center (linked here). The data showed how the vast majority of Americans don’t know their neighbors. This really stuck with me.
Today our country is deeply divided. You can’t turn on the news without hearing something about “tribal politics” or “partisan efforts”. The real truth of the matter is - you can’t understand someone you don’t know. If we don’t know the folks who live closest to us, we’ll never be able to repair a national divide.
As a journalist, I wanted to do my small part to correct this problem. I launched HistoryWorthSaving.com to tell simple stories about the people, places and things around me. During 2019 I rolled out seven feature stories, then the day after Election Day, I launched the History Worth Saving Podcast. When WarbirdRadio.com disappeared on that cool spring May night, I decided it must be time to merge the brands. The stories told on WarbirdRadio.com were about men and women who rose to the challenge. They did whatever they had to do to save their way of life - the beloved country.
Moving forward, I didn’t want to simply preserve the stories of the past - I want to put into action what those stories have taught me. I love America beyond measure, and I think the only way we can truly overcome division is by getting to know each other. I’m incredibly thankful for the decade of WarbirdRadio.com and the lessons learned, friendships forged and memories made, but now it’s time to put that knowledge into action. History Worth Saving is just a small start - my start. I hope you’ll help me spread the word about the #HWSPODCAST and help this endeavor grow. Here’s to the next ten years!
