On August 13, 1920 at the U.N.I.A’s First International Convention of Negro People’s of the World, the Declaration of Rights of Negro Peoples of the World would be introduced by the Honorable Marcus Garvey. Of these declarations, the red, black and green colors would be adopted as the colors of African people, the world over.

Also on this day, the Honorable Marcus Garvey would be elected as the Provisional President of Africa. One God. One Aim. One Destiny. Race First!

Years ago, I travelled to the very site where our African American ancestors received the news of the end of their enslavement. May their spirits cover us and remind us that today is not only a day of rejoicing, but a day of remembrance that the descendants of their enslavers, still enslave the African in America - mentally, economically, sociologically, spiritually, and politically. Happy Juneteenth.
