Eudaimonia* is a Greek term that translates to "the state or condition of good spirit" and is often interpreted as "happiness" or "welfare". In Aristotelian ethics, it refers to the state of human flourishing or living well. Aristotle defined eudaimonia as pursuing happiness throughout a lifetime, rather than in any specific moment. The word comes from the Greek words eu, meaning "happy, well, harmonious", and daimon, meaning "the individual's spirit".

SERVANT LEADERSHIP

Servant leadership is a leadership philosophy in which the goal of the leader is to serve. This is different from traditional leadership where the leader's main focus is the thriving of their company or organization.

A servant leader shares power, puts the needs of the employees first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.
Instead of the people working to serve the leader, the leader exists to serve the people.

As stated by its founder, Robert K. Greenleaf, a servant leader should be focused on "Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?"

When leaders shift their mindset and serve first, they benefit as well as their employees in that their employees acquire personal growth, while the organization grows as well due to the employees' growing commitment and engagement.

PROBLEM SOLVER AND CRITICAL THINKER

A “problem solver and critical thinker" refers to someone who can not only identify and analyze complex problems but also develop effective solutions by carefully evaluating information, considering different perspectives, and making informed decisions, often by questioning assumptions and biases to reach the best possible outcome.

Key aspects of a problem solver and critical thinker:

Analytical skills:
Ability to break down complex issues into manageable parts, identify patterns, and analyze data to understand the root cause of a problem.

Open-mindedness:
Willingness to consider multiple viewpoints and perspectives without jumping to conclusions.

Questioning attitude:
Actively seeking information and asking probing questions to fully understand a situation.

Evaluation of evidence:
Assessing the credibility and reliability of information before making decisions.

Creative thinking:
Generating innovative solutions by exploring different approaches and considering "outside the box" ideas.

Logical reasoning:
Using clear and structured thought processes to arrive at sound conclusions.

How they work together:
Critical thinking identifies the problem:
Before attempting to solve a problem, a critical thinker first analyzes the situation thoroughly to accurately define the issue, understand its complexities, and recognize potential biases.

Problem-solving develops solutions:
Once the problem is clearly defined, a problem solver then uses critical thinking skills to brainstorm and evaluate potential solutions, choosing the most effective approach.

AN OPTIMIST

An optimistic person thinks the best possible thing will happen, and hopes for it even if it's not likely. Someone who's a tad too confident this way is also sometimes called optimistic. If you see the glass as half-full when others see it as half-empty; if you look on the bright side of things, you're optimistic.

SELF-AWARENESS

Self-awareness is the ability to recognize and understand one's own emotions, thoughts, and values, and how they influence behavior. It's different from consciousness, which is being aware of one's body and surroundings.

Self-awareness is the recognition of that consciousness. Highly self-aware people can objectively evaluate themselves, manage their emotions, and align their behavior with their values. They can also understand how others perceive them.

Intentional living is a lifestyle where people consciously choose to live in alignment with their values and beliefs. It's a way to create a life that's meaningful and true to you, and can include self-improvement, religious, political, or ethical values.

Here are some tips for living intentionally:
Identify your values: Consider what's most important to you

Make a plan: Create a pie chart of your life and determine how you want to spend your time
Be aware: Be conscious of your behaviors and actions, and how they align with your values and goals

Declutter: Get rid of things you don't need
Surround yourself with support: Let go of negative relationships and build a supportive network

Be reflective: Think carefully about your actions and choices

Living intentionally can lead to a life that's more joyful and less stressful. It's not about setting resolutions, but rather about making choices that reflect your deepest values.
