Last year, my child would get kicked in the back by a girl in her class. This year she was taunted by another girl who would say unkind things and discourage her. When I told the teacher she broke down and said I’m so sorry I should have seen this. I reassured her when you have 20+ children in a class room it’s kind of hard to see interactions that are only sometimes 3-5 seconds long. This same girl has taunted other kids in class. This as a mother brought me to tears. You NEVER want your child to feel like there’s something wrong with them. I talked with my child and reassured her she is SOO AMAZING, SMART, CARING, and BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT. At graduation there was an award given called the citizens award where each class voted for a boy and girl they felt demonstrated positive traits and they looked up to. Not ONLY did my child get other awards for academic and participation she got the AWARD for her class. Her PEERS chose her and that was the affirmation needed. I cried and said my child is a positive example and with GOD, her teacher supporting her, her family, and friends she’s going to be alright! I want to thank this particular teacher for being there for my child and all the children. I pray for the child who is hurting to the point of bullying. It’s learned behaviors and as adults we have to be self conscious of what our children hear and see. #teacherappreciationweek #bullyingprevention #antibullying #weloveteachers #chattahoochee #elementary
