Chris and I have been working for years on the Vintage Mic Book and it is very close to being finished. We have studied and photographed THOUSANDS of mics. This is a 1925 General Electric "barrel" condenser microphone. A very early condenser, we think it might be a prototype. Kinda looks like a tardigrade, don't you think?
Here is a diagram of how we recorded guitar on the System of a Down sessions. Tool guitar was done the same way, with a silverburst Les Paul, an older Neve and no Army Man. Enjoy!
