Jack the Baboon worked as a railway signalman in the 1880s for money and beer. Jack was the pet and assistant of James Wide, a double-leg amputee who worked as a signalman for the Cape Town–Port Elizabeth railway service. James “Jumper” Wide was known for jumping between railcars until an accident caused him to fall and lose both legs. To help with his duties, Wide bought a chacma baboon in 1881 and trained him to push his wheelchair and operate railway signals under supervision. Jack was initially in charge of the keys to the coal yard and tended the station garden until Wide discovered the baboon’s skill at operating signals. Jack learned each lever by name and could push them into position when a train approached Uitenhage station. Wide would raise one or two fingers (as a signal to the animal), and Jack would then pull the correct lever. Eventually, Jack no longer needed instructions from his master and truly knew which lever to operate for each approaching train. Though the baboon was always under James Wide’s watchful eye, Jack never made a mistake or had to be reminded twice.

A Reminder Florida - baby Squirrels running after you and clinging to the leg of your pants are not rabid ! They are doing this out of sheer desperation because they have lost their mom and have been lacking care for days. Young Squirrels are an exception in the animal kingdom - when they have lost contact with their mom and suffer hunger and thirst, they gather all their courage and purposefully seek help from humans. Most of these animals are also injured by a fall from a tree. Help them. Please never hurt them. 🌰🐿🥜❤️

In the summer of 1923, Frank and Elizabeth Fraser and their two-year-old dog set out from Oregon, Indiana to visit family. When they stopped for gas at an Indiana gas station, the dog was attacked by three other dogs and ran away. They searched everywhere for him, but ultimately couldn't find him. They returned to Oregon heartbroken, thinking they would never see their beloved dog again. After losing all hope, one day their daughter saw a thin, tired dog on the road that looked just like Bobby. After her happy reaction, he turned out to be the lost dog. Thanks to the people who cared for him during the trip, they were able to trace the entire route he traveled. To see his family again, he traveled almost 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) in six months. He walked through the Rocky Mountains in the dead of winter and ended up being nicknamed "Bobby the Wonder Dog." He was the inspiration for the movie "Lassie Returns."

In a heartwarming tale of resilience and love, Potato, the earless cat, captured the hearts of many after finding his forever home and a new best friend named Horlick.

Rescued from the streets of China by a local shelter, Potato had been living as a stray before being discovered by compassionate animal rescuers. Suffering from serious ceruminous adenoma in his ear canals and ear flaps, Potato faced challenges that required specialized medical care and attention.

The veterinarians treated Potato's condition by removing the adenoma, but unfortunately, it returned, prompting the decision to remove his ear canals and flaps to prevent further complications. Despite these hardships, Potato showed tremendous resilience and fortitude as he embarked on his journey to recovery.

Now, under the care of a loving family and sanctuary, Potato has blossomed into a happy and content cat. Celebrated on Instagram as a handsome and joyful companion, Potato's unique appearance and spirited personality have endeared him to all who have had the pleasure of meeting him. Adopted on April 25, 2019, Potato's owners estimate his age to be around six years old, celebrating his rescue anniversary as his unofficial birthday.

Potato's endearing features and unwavering spirit remind us of the beauty and resilience of animals who overcome adversity with grace and courage. Despite facing challenges due to his rare condition, Potato has thrived in his forever home, radiating joy and gratitude for the love and care he receives each day.

Dirty Rock is a massive 650-foot-tall underwater rock located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Revillagigedo Islands, near Mexico.

From the surface of the ocean, you can mainly see the white tip of the enormous 50-meter-wide rock. But beneath the waters, there is a fascinating diversity of marine creatures. Swiss photographer and adventurer Franco Banfi, who first discovered the rock during a liveaboard cruise, captured incredible photographs of the thriving ecosystem near the isolated rock during his second trip.

In fact, the underwater rock is home to a unique collection of marine wildlife, such as Mexican hogfish coral, Panama green moray eel, yellow trumpet fish, spiny lobsters, and many more.
