Cathy Phillips Starnes started her wardrobe consulting firm, Style Speaks (formerly known as Cathy Phillips Fashion), in 2008. In the years since, she has used her creativity, style and organizational skills to help over 130 women and men in the Washington, DC area improve their lives by improving their wardrobes. Cathy’s passion is building confidence in her clients and promoting a positive body
image for all women and men. Cathy started her career in fashion as a personal shopper and manager at Nordstrom where she learned the ins and outs of styling individual men and women. A student of Nordstrom’s philosophy on customer service, Cathy makes it a priority to take care of each of her clients individually. Cathy’s educational background is in business finance and psychology. She has a BS in Business Finance from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and a MA in Psychology from American University in Washington, DC. Cathy has trained with Stacy London of What Not to Wear and is a certified Style for Hire Trained stylist. She has also completed the You Had Me at the First Appointment and Closet Magic training courses with Brenda Kinsel, one of the country’s premiere wardrobe consultants. In addition to her work with individual clients, Cathy styles editorial photo shoots and her work can be seen in local publications including Washington Life Magazine, The Washington Post Express Paper and FW Magazine. A native Texan from Austin, Cathy has been living in Arlington, Virginia for the past eight years.
