The Grand Prairie Police Department is mourning the loss of one of our officers who died in the line of duty. It is with heavy hearts that we report Officer Brandon Paul Tsai passed away after being involved in a traffic collision.

At around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, Officer Tsai was near the intersection of SW 3rd and Pioneer Parkway when he located a vehicle displaying a fictitious paper license plate. Officer Tsai attempted to stop the vehicle which immediately fled. During the pursuit, Officer Tsai lost control of his squad car causing it to strike a light pole.

Officer Tsai was transported by Grand Prairie Fire Department Medics to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Brandon Tsai was 32-years-old and had been with the Grand Prairie Police Department since January 2022. Prior to his hiring at GPPD, he served five years with the Los Angeles Police Department in California.

He was a loving friend, a trusted colleague and an outstanding officer whose passion was providing service to the public.

Today is the 11th of September. On this day 10 years ago. People, who hate our country so much, they took four planes. They took those planes and flew two of them into the Twin Towers in New York City. By doing this, they killed everyone onboard those planes. Multiple people who where in the building were killed by the impact or simply jumped to their death to the heavy fire in the building. Multiple Fire Stations from all over the City came to the Towers to try and fight the blaze that was raging in the towers. They were not enough to stop the blaze that was raging. Eventually those towers gave way and crumbled to the ground. Leaving Hundreds of people and Fire Fighters and Police Officers trapped or perished. Today we mark this anniversary to remember all those who, although knew that things were bad, rushed in and did what they know best and that's is to help people, save people. Many where saved that day due to the heroic efforts of the Men and Women of the Fire and PD Departments all over the City. Today we honor there bravery, we honor our loss and show those who we care about that we have not forgotten. To all who perished in the 9/11 Disaster, Remember we will never forget you.

Last night was a somber reminder of the daily dangers our Fire and EMS personnel face as they serve the Memphis community. Memphis Fire Truck 5 was involved in a motor vehicle collision while responding to a residential house fire. Three of our members were treated and released from the hospital; however, Driver David Pleasant, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.

David was extremely passionate about his role as a driver for the Memphis Fire Department, and he loved to help people and serve our community. Driver Pleasant began his career with the Division of Fire Services on July 9th, 1990, and faithfully served for 32 years. His legacy will remain in our hearts for years to come.

Our hearts are heavy as we lift up prayers for his family, friends, and Memphis Fire Department brothers and sisters. Sincerely, Gina Y. Sweat, Fire Chief.
