Hayley Tenpas is the host of Focus Fox Valley on WHBY radio. You can listen in weekdays from 11-1 She is a native to the Fox Valley, growing up in Hortonville.

Hayley Tenpas joined WHBY’s broadcast team in 2018 as host of their afternoon talk show, Focus Fox Valley. Hayley started her on-air career in television, first reporting in the Northwoods for WJFW Newswatch 12 in Rhinelander. She most recently was the morning anchor for NBC26 in Green Bay. She earned her broadcast journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. While there Hayley s

pent time anchoring UWWTV news broadcasts. She also worked in the sports department doing play-by-play for basketball and volleyball games. In her spare time, Hayley enjoys working on her green thumb, running 5Ks and skiing on Wisconsin’s hills and lakes. Hayley is a proud supporter of all things agriculture and Wisconsin’s dairy industry. Hayley lives in the Fox Valley with her husband, Brian and two children. Focus Fox Valley will concentrate on delivering local news and community minded conversation to the listeners of WHBY. The topics discussed on Focus Fox Valley will be family-oriented, community driven and will put an emphasis on the people and organizations that help the Fox Valley thrive. Women Who Wow Us #4 -- Alondra Sanchez!!
Alondra is a Licensed Professional Counselor and therapist with Cultura Counseling. The practice is dedicated to serving the BIPOC community and Spanish-speaking folks, ensuring culturally sensitive and inclusive care.

She shared a totally relatable story as a parent and gives great advice on self compassion, “Yesterday, I was kind of dreading picking up my daughter from daycare because I had a long day at work, and then I had to go home. My partner was working, and so I was kind of solo parenting for the rest of the night. And I was like, ‘Oh man, I’m tired.’ But then I really reframed that, and I was like, wait a minute, let me give myself some credit. I worked all day, and I’m gonna go home, hang out with my daughter, take her to the park, and do fun stuff. I deserve the credit, and I deserve to have some self compassion. It’s okay if I’m tired, it’s okay if I don’t want to do it, I’m still going to do it, and I love myself for being able to do it.”

I spent the most lovely evening at Givens Farm in Hortonville. They hosted a fun sheep spa day with Wooly Green Grazers LLC! The kids loved it.

My favorite takeaway might have been this trick for perfectly buttered corn on the cob though…

Women Who Wow Us #3 features Caitlin Henriksen.

Caitlin is a caring and compassionate Health Educator for Sexual Violence Prevention in the Counseling and Health Center at UW Green Bay. She says the biggest part of her job is providing support, “A lot of times we think about [how] a sexual assault is one event that happened and now it’s done. But that’s just not the reality for survivors. It’s impacting all of these different parts of their lives. It’s impacting academics, it’s impacting their sleep, their eating, their daily habits. So a huge part of my job is helping try to minimize that.”

Caitlin adds that support might mean finding flexibility in a student’s class schedule or helping them withdraw from classes. It could even mean helping them switch dorm rooms.

Women Who Wow Us #2 features Stephanie Skrede!

During our time together Stephanie shared her experiences as a parent (including being a parent of a child with a rare liver disease) and then sharing her own journey being diagnosed with breast cancer in November.

I asked Stephanie if she had any advice for when life gets overwhelming, “Take it one day at a time, one moment, one hour at a time. You can do it. You can get through it there’s people who support you. And think of all the positives.”

It feels like Christmas morning! Who's tuning in at 11:10 AM to hear Fanni's story? 💜

During our time together Fanni shared her experiences as a veteran, including her year in Afghanistan on the combat stress control team. We also learned about her time as a clinical social worker and how that work led to pursuing opportunities in diversity, inclusion and culture, and eventually nonprofit work with the Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association !

We ended our time together hearing about what Fanni is proudest of, which she says is her current work in mentoring other minority business owners and being part of NEWCA and the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival [September 14th].

My Gyro Waffle Fries Food Fight Championship journey reached its peak yesterday with the throwing of the first pitch at the game! What a thrill (and yes, I was a little nervous!)

Thank you to the Timber Rattlers organization for the opportunity! I also want to thank those of you who voted for my creation. I hope you get the chance to try it at Fox Cities Stadium this summer. You’ll find it on the third base side concession stand, served in a souvenir ballpark cap.

And many people have asked how much it costs, and I can’t make this up… it’s $11.50 🎙️♥️

I’ve shared a wall/workspace with Otis, Katie & Nick for about 6 months now. I’ve never laughed harder.

Our paper thin wall space has allowed me to really [reaaaaallly] get to know this group ☺️ 🤣

We talk dinner plans, exchange kid stories, chat about community events/orgs. They’ve quickly & easily become my friends and people I adore greatly.

This trio is a long time coming and I cannot wait to hear them on the air. Tune in a bit Monday, June 10 to 95.9 KISSFM, and get ready for the start of an amazing chapter in morning radio 🩷
