Othila

The rune's meaning can be interpreted as the property you have, as well as your family and relatives. The rune describes all the objects and property you have acquired and everything that is given to you from birth.

The design of the rune is very similar to the roof of a house, and therefore it has a direct bearing on everything in the house and even on the land on which this house is built. Unlike Fehu, Othila does not talk about your earnings or finances. And this is an essential difference between these runes because what you want to buy or how you pay is Fehu, and what you have already purchased is Othila.

The rune is used in protective magic when the purpose of the formula is to preserve property. Also, the rune can be found in healing magic as a power that restores your organs to a state in the past, a pointer to some organs, especially teeth, or the desired result. Also, as a pointer to chronic diseases. Othila is often used in love magic. It symbolizes the result, i.e., the achievement of living together and creating a family.

Personally, I view the energy of this rune as a stream to which your family is connected. With the aid of Othila, you can access the knowledge and wisdom of your ancestors. Othila acts as a door that offers a path to learn the wisdom belonging to your forebears and a way to seek assistance from them.

Dagaz

Sowilo is the Sun, and Dagaz is its passage across the sky. Daytime is the main time of human activity in old times. Day dispels the darkness and reveals what hides in the shadow and on the opposite, night hides everything in the darkness. This endless transition is what Dagaz describes

The rune of day and night change, a change of state, and not gradual, but sharper and faster. It symbolizes, at one moment, both a sunny day and a night. Because of this, it is often interpreted as a transition into a new form.

If we turn the rune on one side, we will see the outlines of an hourglass, which connects Dagaz with time and its constant flow, which makes it possible to use it in formulas whose purpose is to speed up or turn back time.

For me, the rune is associated with the symbol of the endless snake, which moves cyclically in a circle. This is energy that changes and transforms but still returns to its original form.

In formulas, you can find this rune as a transition force. Everything may be changed, and the changes are laid by the one who creates the formula because, as the rune of the day, it can bring a positive result, but as the rune of the night, negative. In my practice, there were cases when Dagaz, used for a positive situation, changed it in a negative direction.

Ingwaz

The meaning of the Ingwaz rune is associated with the god Freyr, who was sent as a hostage to the Aesir after the end of the war with Vanes. But that didn't stop him from becoming one of the most glorious gods and widely worshipped by the Old Norse as the god of harvest, and fertility.

Ingwaz is a symbol of the seed and the power of nature. These are flowers blooming on scorched earth and the restoration of nature. Like the god Freyr himself, it is associated with sexual desires, youth, and fertile lands.

Ingwaz is widely used in rituals where the goal is a positive result. For example, creating a talisman for masculine strength or formulas to protect your home; in any case, Ingwaz will add integrity to the result and enhance the effect.

As a fertility rune, the rune is often used in fertility rituals. Although its action is not limited only to this sphere, it can also restore physical, emotional, or spiritual balance and give strength to create something new. This rune will help relieve tension or relax. And of course, it's often used in "love magic" as a symbol of men.

In runic formulas, Ingwaz is often a pointer to a result or a representation of what needs to be improved. Ingwaz is also used in male talismans and formulas aimed at enhancing prosperity and is often used in healing formulas to restore energy and virility.

When working with Ingwaz, you must keep in mind that this rune represents the seed. However, without the necessary growth, it will not guarantee results. This is why Ingwaz is often used with other runes and rarely alone.

Laguz

Laguz symbolizes the primordial waters of Niflheim. It is directly related to magic and magical power. Has a unique energy, calm and powerful at the same time.

I see this rune as a river filled with magical energy. It was slowly moving but radiating a bright light that attracted all living things. The rune has a pronounced feminine energy and symbolizes a calm stream and a fast mountain river at one moment.

Laguz is also a stream that flows through the whole world. The rune can significantly increase your magical abilities if you learn how to use it correctly. And if we talk about the stream as a river of time, then Laguz will help to look into the past and the future. I would call this rune one of the most unusual and mystical in the Elder Futhark.

Laguz is the personification of intuition and magic. It is often used in love spells as a force that makes two people float in the same direction. But this does not mean that it cannot be used for more positive purposes. For example, it is perfect for developing intuition and world understanding. It will help cure or normalize human organs' work, especially those associated with water.

As a river's flow has direction and speed, so does Laguz energy. Similar to Ansuz, Laguz also represents order, but not in your thoughts, but in your actions. Therefore, you should not expect a quick result when working with it. Instead, it will adjust events to occur as naturally as possible. This quality of the rune also helps to bring order to thoughts and feelings when meditating on it.

Mannaz

In Norse mythology, when Ve, Vili, and Odin were walking along the sea strand, they found two trees, and took up the trees and shaped men of them: the first gave them spirit and life; the second, wit and feeling; the third, form, speech, hearing, and sight. They gave them clothing and names: the male was called Askr, and the female Embla

Mannaz is a person and everything that is connected with a person as an individual. This is all that the gods gave us and what we acquired over time. These are not things but knowledge, feelings, and emotions. Mannaz is a symbol of a self-sufficient and robust person, confident in himself and his abilities.

Mannaz also characterizes a person as a society representative and how society influences a person. Roles that a person plays in his life: parent or child, someone's boss or subordinate, and a member of communities and associations. Roles impose a certain behavior style and are bound in responsibility that makes him dependent and attached.

Mannaz is quite a universal rune describing a strong person, confident in himself and his actions. With it, you can reach your maximum human potential. Also, it is a kind of reminder that all humans have a shared experience of life from which one can draw wisdom without ever having to face the situation directly.

In runic formulas, the rune is often used to represent a person. It can be found in formulas for developing mental and physical qualities. Often the rune is the central part of the formula, overgrown with other runes as qualities that you want to improve.

When applying this rune individually, it may serve as a barrier against other people's energies. It's no secret that our deeds and actions can be influenced by the energy of those around us. This rune will help to cut off this influence for some time. So, when you need to concentrate in a noisy office or have self-confidence in your meeting, you can use this rune by itself.

Ehwaz

The most popular association from Scandinavian mythology connected with the Ehwaz is Odin's eight-legged horse Sleipnir. Endowed with divine speed and the ability to travel through realms. Devotion and loyalty are the attributes of a horse, and so are the attributes of Ehwaz.

Ehwaz is a sharp breakthrough in the required direction, but at the same time, it does not support this movement in the future. Like a horse, a rune has a massive amount of energy at the start, which dries up over time. Therefore, Ehwaz sets the pace and direction, and the maintenance of this path and the strength necessary to complete it depends on your desire and the goal's attainability.

Ehwaz is the personification of true friendship and trust. The basis that allows you to create and build something new. It's associated with life changes, but all these changes are not accidental. These are all the consequences of your actions and decisions. You deal with problems and achieve what you want. This means you have chosen the right path.

In my practice, the rune was always an excellent assistant when starting a new business or clearing yourself from laziness. On the other hand, Ehwaz shows its power very weakly in cases when it needs to give a new impetus to an already destroyed business or lost situation. It's like a horse. If you have young and/or powerful - you can saddle it anytime and move into battle, but if your horse is old or ill, you can't force it to move without negative consequences. The same is for healing with this rune. It can help if the target of the formula has power and desire. This is why normal practice is to use "cleaning" and energy restoration formulas before healing formulas.

Berkano

Berkano is considered a healing rune, especially when dealing with the illnesses and problems associated with childbearing and early childhood.

Berkano is often used in love spells to represent a wife or woman. But the full power it reveals in fertility, protection, and concealment spells.

Berkano represents the force of growth and development. Her powers are not limited to family and children. Berkano is the universal force of growth, a representation of the very strength of the earth and its energy.

In magical practice, the use of the rune is highly diverse. In medicinal formulas, it helps restore the body and heal wounds; in household formulas, it helps restore hair and body. It will help with the implementation of new ideas and when starting a new business. It is essential to understand that Berkano is not the seed itself but the growth of that seed. In other words, its power does not create something new from scratch but helps to grow what you already have.

The use of Berkano in medicinal formulas has its peculiarity. Since the rune represents growth energy, it is not advisable to use it to treat tumors or rashes. Of course, there will be an effect, but her forces can contribute to the growth of the problem.

Berkano is one of the softest runes in its action and therefore is not prohibited for use on children. Consequently, you can often find formulas with it aimed at protecting and growing the child.

If Ingwaz is a seed, Fehu is a fertilizer, and as a result, Berkano is the process of growth and birth.

Teiwaz

Tiwaz is a rune associated with the god Tyr. Like the god himself, he personifies strength, courage, and justice. As a god of war, he was quite popular in ancient times and even held a primary position in the pantheon before Odin. But unlike Odin, Tyr loves justice no matter what, this aspect is also part of the rune's meaning. Tyr's popularity also influences even our world, because "Tuesday," is named after Tyr (Tiw's day).

The meaning of the Teiwaz rune is often reduced to a description of the god Tyr. Tyr is the standard of military valor, honesty, and openness. The aspirations and thoughts of this god are like a spear - they are straight and always hit right on target. This is the main idea that the Teiwaz embodies - justice and victory, the right direction, and the achievement of goals.

Teiwaz sympathizes with soldiers and human rights workers. It helps in treating male diseases and increasing libido.

In runic formulas, used as a protective or, on the contrary, an aggressive rune. It can indicate the direction of movement of energy or give strength to the one asking. Used in both positive and negative influences.

Teiwaz can be used almost everywhere. Its energy is positive but requires strength to achieve goals. It can serve as an indicator of the goal, or vice versa, and it can be a means of achieving this goal.

When working with Tiwaz, you must understand that everything in the god Tyr himself is inherent in it. And since he gave his hand for justice, you must be prepared that the rune may require self-sacrifice to achieve the result. Of course, no one is talking about losing an arm, but you have to be prepared to work hard and possibly spend a lot of energy to get what you want.

Sowilo

Sowilo is all the sun can mean for a person and all living things. This is the strength that provides an impetus for growth and achieves victory. Like the Sun, Sowilo has a massive store of energy that can burn if not used properly.

Sowilo is also related to the shining god - Baldur (the son of Odin and F***g) and the Goddess of the Sun - Sol. Interestingly, neither of the gods has the best destiny. Baldur was killed by his brother, and Sol was always chasing by wolf Sköll.

Sowilo is the rune of victory, courage and personal growth. It may help to carry out your plans to the victory end, but to do so, you may need not only perseverance, but also a portion of aggression. The rune supports acquiring new connections and contacts in friendship and love. All this will be permeated with the energy of creativity.

In medicine, it can destroy and "burn out" the disease. However, it should be applied with caution to those who have already activated the energy of fire in its negative sense: increased temperature or pressure, exacerbated chronic disease, and in the case when there are inflammatory processes.

In my practice, Sowilo often helped in resolving legal issues, but unlike Teiwaz, the rune does not require you to be fair and right in the situation. It can fill a person with the energy and strength to achieve his plan. But it would be best if you did not forget about the balance. Power cannot come from emptiness. Therefore people often feel tired and sleepy after the rune work ends.

Using the rune in formulas is universal. It can both heal and harm. Often it acts as the central rune, which does the main part of the work, and the rest only indicates the goal and consolidates the result. Sowilo's action in the formulas can be described in two words - burning and energy.

Algiz

The meaning of Algiz (also known as Elhaz) is closely related to protection. It's not just one aspect of the rune but the main and most important one. Like Ansuz, Algiz acts as a channel between us and the gods. However, unlike Ansuz, which facilitates communication, Algiz does not establish a channel for dialogue but rather offers a way of receiving protection and patronage from higher forces and gods.

The shape of the Algiz rune resembles a person with their hands raised high as if reaching out to the gods for help. Additionally, the shape of the rune is similar to the branches of Yggdrasil that extend upwards towards Asgard, the realm of the Aesir gods. Such symbolism even more strengthen the rune's connection to protection, symbolizing a request for help or protection from the higher powers and gods.

Algiz can protect a person or property and is most effective in protecting against physical damage. Unlike Isa or Thurisaz, Algiz is more of a deep defense with shields raised high than an aggressive counteroffensive.

The rune can often be seen in healing formulas. This is due to its ability to act as a filter for the action of other runes. And also to protect the result or person during the formula's work.

And of course, as a rune of protection. It is often used in charms and talismans to protect yourself and the land where you live.

is Perthro

Perthro is a unique rune that hides the secret of its meaning and is a kind of symbol of initiation. By its form, it represents a bag, wallet, or ship. Therefore, modern runology often uses it as a pointer to the container of something, be it money, thoughts, or emotions, and also as a rune denoting a secret.

Perthro is a rune enveloped in mystique, with a hidden precise meaning. However, based on its shape and interpretations from lines in the Anglo-Saxon rune poem, it is believed to relate to the warriors' entertainment, most likely referring to a dice game. Thus, the rune is thought to symbolize a bag used to carry dice.

But in the meaning of "bag," Perthro is also associated with the mental plane and dreams, the inner world of the human. For a more superficial understanding, imagine that Perthro symbolizes a bag in which emotions and feelings are stored. When used correctly, it will help to clean up the head and structure the memory.

In my practice, the rune mainly described some secret or hidden circumstances. I dare to call Perthro the rune of fate, and it's not for nothing that many attribute it to the goddess F***g, who known destiny of all, but can't tell it to anyone. Often the rune can be found in formulas for treating female diseases or associated with occult or hidden knowledge. Also, the rune can improve your luck and chance of winning.

But overall, in formulas and bindrunes, Perthro is often found as an indicator of something mystical or hidden. And this "something" is not always material, such as dreams or thoughts. However, it's not a description of these thoughts, because that's more Ansuz's domain, but rather a place where they originate or are stored, e.g., the mind.

Eihwaz

The symbolic meaning of the Eihwaz is related to the World Tree Yggdrassil, which personifies the unity of the Universe. The roots of the World Tree go to the depths of Helheim (the Kingdom of the Dead), and the branches rise to Asgard (the Land of the Gods). But roots is not just a bad place, its also a way that leads to Well of Wisdom, where Odin sacrificed his eye just to get a drink from it.

Translated from the Old Norse, the name of the rune Еihwaz means "yew tree." This tree is quite poisonous, as all parts of it contain hallucinogenic toxins. It is believed that the energy of Eihwaz is also capable of facilitating astral transitions or shamanic journeys between different worlds of the Universe.

Just as bows made from yew stand out for their accuracy, Eihwaz can accurately direct the flow of energy. Eihwaz also has access to the hidden, not only mystical but also emotional or spiritual. With it, you can bring out fears and anxieties deep inside the human soul. That makes it also a rune of disclosure and self-knowledge.

Eihwaz is often used in protective formulas, representing protection from the invisible: magical influence, negative energy, ghosts, spirits, etc. On the energy plane, Eihwaz creates a thin, transparent bag that does not let negative energies enter but easily releases them.

: Jera

The rune of harvest, Jera, symbolizes the cycle of profit encompassing the entire process: from soil preparation, sowing, and fertilization to care and eventual harvest. However, one cannot simply plant and expect rewards without effort. Jera demands consistent, diligent work. Only through such perseverance will Jera assist in overcoming obstacles, enabling you to reap the maximum benefits from your efforts.

Jera may help to clear the way for events, but there is no need to rush - the desire to get an immediate benefit can negatively affect the final result.

Feel the rhythm of events and perform each action by the natural order of things. Only in such a way the power of the rune will be revealed to the maximum, and the result will be worth the energy spent on it.

Jera is also responsible for repeating events and situations in life. If you are not able to understand the lesson now, it will be repeated again and again until you will understand and learn it fully

Jera represents the change of seasons and the transition from one action to another. It encourages living in harmony with oneself by focusing on the necessary tasks, rather than pursuing illusory success amid chaos. Jera emphasizes the importance of timely actions and the natural flow of progress

When combined with other runes, it is employed to halt negative phases in life and exit problematic or destructive relationships. Helps open the soul to new love or get pregnant.

Also, Jera is often used to indicate that the action of the formula is looped and must be constantly repeated.

Join me tomorrow for the Rune of the day.

Learning the Runes:
Rune of the day: Isa

Isa is associated with Verdandi, the Norn of the present. Isa is related to the element of water in its frozen state and associated with the jotuns from Norse mythology.

According to the Gylfaginning, life began when the heat of Múspellheim melted the rime created by the cold of Niflheim in the void called Ginnungagap, and from the drops of melting rime and the heat of the fire, the first creature was created - the rime giant Ymir.

Isa literally translates as "ice." Most often, its meaning is perceived negatively since it indicates that a period of stagnation has begun. But this can be perceived in a favorable context: it is time to reconsider your life, relax, rest, and think about the future.

Even though the meaning of the rune is most often negative, in magic, Isa can be used to "slow down," freeze or stop any processes.

Isa is quite popular in healing formulas due to its power to stop the process. It can cool and calm the person or slow down the negative processes of the body. But when working with the rune, the main thing is not to forget that Isa stops or "freezes" a process but does not eliminate the cause.

Also, the rune can often be found in protective formulas because it helps to create an ice or mirror shield around a person, which mirrors negative influences back.
